We need opinions of active contributors to the Budapest district articles -- please share your opinions there. Thank you. --(WT-en) DenisYurkin 04:05, 8 January 2007 (EST)
Mátyás Pince tourist trap
edit> Mátyás Pince: ... Tourist trap alert!
What exactly makes it a tourist trap? --(WT-en) DenisYurkin 16:05, 27 November 2007 (EST)
LightEvolution
editI have deleted that Dora Berkes Light Installation - Advertisement ? —The preceding comment was added by (WT-en) 78.92.86.247 (talk • contribs)
- No, it's not an advertisement--but a genuine recommendation, it's really worth seeing in its season. --(WT-en) DenisYurkin 16:46, 20 June 2008 (EDT)
editing sections and no TOC
editI am not sure what the problem is in this article, but when I try to edit sections it takes to another sections edit page. Also there is no table of contents. Anyone who knows the system and MediaWiki better than me, please help out so more users can utilize this page as well as help edit. Thanks. (WT-en) Carson 14:43, 1 August 2008 (EDT)
- I fixed few characters, seem to work now. Let us know if you still have problems with this. --(WT-en) DenisYurkin 20:23, 6 August 2008 (EDT)
Status of this article
editI put it down to usable as there is no Get in or Get out information. An understand section would be helpful as well. I would imagine somebody who knows Buddapest well could very easily complete these missing sections. There was also a large amount of apartment listing spam which I removed leaving only those with physical addresses that match the apartments they are renting. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 04:01, 5 November 2009 (EST)
- If someone who knows Budapest could just write simple Get in and Get out sections, then this will be a guide without question I think. Shame to see the article languishing for such easily-remedied reasons.--(WT-en) Burmesedays 23:12, 20 November 2009 (EST)
Deleted route symbol
editApparently Image:BKV_villamos_symbol.svg, which is used in the article like 50 times, has been deleted on commons. I don't know if the image contained information which needs to be replaced in text form before removing the redlinks, or if we can replace it with a different symbol, but something needs to be done to fix it. The same goes for Budapest/Óbuda as well. Texugo (talk) 17:08, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
- I think that it could just be replaced with "tram", as we don't have a symbol in the article for bus. Alternatively we could use File:BKV villamos.svg. AlasdairW (talk) 20:56, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
- Agree with AlasdairW using for tram and maybe we can use this for bus. Globetrotter19 (talk) 08:16, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
- Is that one derived from the one that was deleted? If so, isn't it likely to be deleted in the future for the same reason? Anyway, for generic trams/buses, I'm leaning toward the text approach. Any city over a certain size will have trams or buses, so unless we are using an official symbol used on the ground locally, we'd just be idiosyncratically choosing to show buses a certain way in this one city, for no particular reason and with no consistent system of doing so for other cities. I don't really see a particular reason why we would need icons for generic bus/tram/car/boat/taxi, but if we do decide they really are needed, I would prefer an approach where we talk about how they should be used across all pages, arrive at a consistent set that can be used throughout the site, and then template them rather than calling the image in full file syntax every time. Texugo (talk) 11:21, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
- On reflection, I think that we would be best with the text. Moving away from the screen the bus and tram symbols start to look the same, before I have difficulty reading the text. Assuming that the symbols appear on stops etc, then they could go once in Budapest#Get_around. (Both symbols have been on commons for a few years and are used on 500+ pages, so may not be so likely to be deleted.) AlasdairW (talk) 15:39, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
- BKV_villamos_symbol.svg has been deleted for copyviol. The above suggested alternative cannot be deleted (are just generic icons). FYI On it:voy we have started to import&translate this article, and there I've decided to replace it with plain text "Tram", I think is the most reasonable choice, because without an official logo, there's no reason why a certain article should use a generic icon while the others don't. --Andyrom75 (talk) 17:18, 25 July 2014 (UTC)
- Texugo I've performed the same change that you have made on all the other articles that used that image. Now the en:voy articles are clean, and this icon is linked just on the talk pages. --Andyrom75 (talk) 06:48, 27 July 2014 (UTC)

Metro icons
editTo gain the following benefits:
- avoid future issues on deleted icons (I mean, doubt on what to do/write)
- increase readibility for those users that don't download pictures
- improve SEO
I suggest to add to each icon a description, that will appear on "regular layout" only on tooltip, and the text is shown only in the absence of the relevant image.
See the change that I've applied in the WIP article on it:voy. IMO this approach should be followed for each icon. --Andyrom75 (talk) 06:48, 27 July 2014 (UTC)
