Roman camp

edit

I have deleted (parts of) the intro where a 'Roman camp' is mentioned. There has never been a Roman camp in Groningen, not in the literature, not in archaeological evidence nor otherwise. There was trade with the Romans, with Roman traders in what is now the province of Groningen, but that is something different from a (military) roman camp or settlement. For more info I would refer to wikipedia, especially the Dutch version has some sound information on the subject. As a rule of thumb, one can say that the river Rhine was the northernmost boundary of the Roman empire in the Netherlands.

The current banner is a bit boring, how about changing it? I think it's better to use an panoramic view or a canal picture. Two examples:

The first one is my favourite. Iceandsnow (talk) 12:39, 28 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

I've never been to Groningen, but I think the current banner is quite pretty and like it better than your proposed substitutes. But maybe the reason I like it much more than you do is that this type of architecture is very typically Netherlandish, and whereas I think it's gorgeous and one of the real draws of your country, you're used to it, so you find it boring. :-) Ikan Kekek (talk) 12:44, 28 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

DotM possibility?

edit

I've been loosely following the progress of editing in this Guide article. Is it close to ready for a Destination of the Month nomination? If not, what work remains to be done? Ikan Kekek (talk) 10:29, 11 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

IMO it's a DotM. I didn't update coffee shops listings but noticed somebody else did the work. If you like I can add even more! --Gobbler (talk) 12:46, 11 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
Sure, if you think it's warranted.
If you think it's ready, feel free to go ahead and nominate it. It might not run for quite a while, but there's no harm in a nomination. Ikan Kekek (talk) 15:39, 11 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
That would be very nice! I'm editing this article now for a year or something and a DotM is the ultimate goal :) Iceandsnow (talk) 20:18, 11 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
