Talk:Jiangyin

In the lede: "It belongs to Wuxi City". Wuxi is not districted on Wikivoyage and can't be without a specific proposal on Talk:Wuxi that gains consensus support. I would oppose at this point. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:39, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- Actually, I'm not sure. It's north of the area that seems to be covered by the Wuxi article, and "Understand" says it's a county-level city. We need to have a discussion. - Jiangyin is my own hometown, it is a county-level city, not under the jurisdiction of Wuxi, but temporarily managed by Wuxi. I just want more people to see Jiangyin.Thank you 118.218.37.245 02:58, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
- I haven't been to Jiangyin, but due to the nature of China's administrative structure, you often have county-level cities being administratively placed under a prefecture-level city. This appears to be one of those situations. The dog2 (talk) 03:07, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
- It seems like I should remove the merge tags. I'll do that. We can continue the discussion. But if it's just temporarily under the jurisdiction of Wuxi and that has no real effect on travelers, maybe we shouldn't confuse the issue by mentioning it at all. - Wikipedia says that Jiangyin is a city. I am learning that Chinese administrative divisions seem to create cities within cities (Wikiepedia calls both of them cities, but Jiangyin is also part of Wuxi...), but for most people, those are separate entities. However, I think we should 'districtify' Wuxi per Wikipedia's map - see Wuxi - Wikipedia Hanyangprofessor2 (talk) 07:04, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
- Jiangsu seems to have 22 cities, if I counted them right (although they're divided into 13 prefectures and 9 "Other cities") so maybe it's time to divide the province into regions, and maybe Wuxi should be one of the regions. However, if we districtify Wuxi instead per the Wikipedia map, how much would it help visitors to have Yixing in the same city as the other constituent cities, which are separated by an unnamed city or cities per https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e6/Administrative_Division_Wuxi.png/945px-Administrative_Division_Wuxi.png?
