Talk:King's Road (Finland)
Links
editNext summer I'll possibly put a few weeks into this article to turn it into a guide. Some links for myself.
How far is this article from Guide status?
edit...in your opinion? Per Wikivoyage:Itinerary status a guide itinerary "describes each stop and how to get there. In addition, it suggests sights or side-trips along the way. Listings and layout closely match the manual of style." Do you think the King's Road article does, and if not, what needs to be fixed? Would love to see this one as FTT sometime next summer. Map of the route doesn't show route
editI find it confusing that when I open the map of King's road, I get only separate sight seeing spots (tested with two browsers). Is there map of any version of road somewhere?
- Well, the map we're using is OpenStreetMap, which contains limitations as to what features you can add. If you want, you can try looking for a static map on Wikimedia Commons. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 13:04, 10 July 2019 (UTC)
- Yes, the dynamic map has the ability to display routes, see for instance Magellan-Elcano_circumnavigation#Go. As the major author of the article I actually added it to this article 4 years ago (Template:GPX/King's Road (Finland)), but then something in the dynamic map code was changed and all the old itineraries stopped working. Churches open daily year round?
editIn King's Road (Finland)#Prepare we say:
- "Churches are open to the public during daytime, year round with services on Sundays and Christian holidays."
Is this really true for countryside churches, such as in Piikkiö and Paimio? Most countryside churches in Finland are open only by request and at services, except as "road churches" in summer (I assume the churches along this route participate in that scheme). E.g. the Piikkiö church is open only for events and by request, according to the linked page in Piikkiö#See. –LPfi (talk) 12:19, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
- It's possible that it has been the case some years ago but not any longer. I wrote most of the article 9-10 years ago and vaguely remember using a very informative tourist brochure as help, however it was probably ten years old back then. --Ypsilon (talk) 12:56, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
- OK. I tweaked accordingly. –LPfi (talk) 14:12, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
