Merge to London? edit

This was tagged for merge by User:Globe-trotter

  • Oppose merge: Most travel guides on a city have special sections devoted to the use, routes, and idiosyncrasies of a city's transit system. We should have articles on major transit systems such as the London Underground, the New York MTA, and the Los Angeles Metro Purplebackpack89 18:22, 17 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
We include the information on transit systems in the appropriate destination guide. If you think we should separate this information in another article, then this really a change you should be take up on wiaa, rather than here. --Inas (talk) 23:56, 6 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose merge. Transit systems of major world cities need their own article. They are large and complex, and often difficult for inexperienced travelers to navigate. They can also be regarded as destinations in their own right for some travellers who are interested in such things. These are enormous systems that dwarf other tourist attractions, and many towns that are regarded as notable destinations elsewhere: London Underground, in particular, has a population larger than that of many mid-sized cities when fully under way. -- The Anome (talk) 20:08, 25 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
What Inas said. This is not currently how things are done. If you'd like to change that, please start a discussion at Wikivoyage talk:What is an article. Texugo (talk) 20:12, 25 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose merger

The London underground is extremely complex and certainly is important. Transit systems really should have their own articles if they qualify, including roads, train lines, metros, walking, and sometimes airports even. —The preceding comment was added by 68.50.233.28 (talkcontribs)

As Inas and Texugo said, feel free to make your argument in Wikivoyage talk:What is an article. Opposing the merger on this talk page won't have any effect because the underlying policy is not in question unless you can persuade a consensus to change it. It's worth a try, so I hope you make the argument there - and when you do, please sign that talk page by typing 4 tildes in a row. Ikan Kekek (talk) 12:33, 27 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
Altfish (talk) 18:01, 20 March 2014 (UTC) The main City page should have a brief overview of key transport systems, but a separate page with more details would be very useful.Reply
