This article needs a lot of help

edit

(1) The "Get around" section is not being properly used. "Get around" is not supposed to suggest places for people to go, but ways to get there - within the town. It looks like the first two items currently in "Get around" should be in "Go next." I have no idea about the following two items, as I don't know how far they are outside of town. (2) The "Do" section is not supposed to proselytize! "Chant" is certainly OK as a suggestion of a thing to do, and it can be mentioned that chanting is traditional in this town, but advice on what religious texts to read and what prayer to chant is for a religious tract, not a travel site. Actually, almost this entire article seems like a big advertisement for ISKCON. Evidently, ISKCON is the main reason to go to Mayapur, but anyone who wants to take on the mission of hugely reediting this article for more objective descriptions, etc., would be doing a nice service. I'll make a few edits to get the process started. Ikan Kekek (talk) 10:30, 8 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

OK, it's already looking better. "See" needs to be pared down a lot, though. Ikan Kekek (talk) 10:44, 8 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
I made more edits. The article is more or less usable now, but still needs more editing to explain some things to non-Hindu potential visitors (if any) and dial down the proselytizing further. It also may need some more structural tweaks. Some more photos would be nice, too, if this place is really so amazingly beautiful. Perhaps the touting of the location and all the holy places may need to be further attenuated. Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:48, 9 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
I think it still needs de-touting and other edits. The whole description of Plassey appears to be a copyright violation, word-for-word identical to the site it links to. The link in the opening sentence is dead & anyway goes to ISKON site, which appears to violate our policy on only official links, though arguably this case should be a exception. Those are the problems I found in a quick look; I'll wager there are lots more. Pashley (talk) 21:26, 9 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
You should see what it looked like before I started editing. That said, any further improvements would be most welcome. Ikan Kekek (talk) 03:51, 10 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Swapping the banner

edit

The current banner of Mayapur

The current banner of Nadia

I think the banners used in Mayapur and Nadia should be swapped, as the ISKCON HQ banner looks far more representative of Mayapur than a banner of boating in the area, which could be mistaken for any place in West Bengal. Sbb1413 (he) (talkcontribs) 08:01, 31 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

I agree – the current banner looks a bit generic. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 08:03, 31 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
