Rename as Portlaoise edit

Portlaoise (rather than Port Laoise) is the official and commoner spelling. Wikipedia has switched in the last few days. I'll switch the WV name likewise unless there's a cogent argument for status quo. Grahamsands (talk) 14:43, 28 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

The dynamic maps continue to show it as "Port Laoise". What action is needed to switch those? Grahamsands (talk) 08:43, 9 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

You'll need to go to OpenStreetMap since it's their maps which we're using. I'm not an expert with OSM, and I've never used it before, but I believe SelfieCity has some better knowledge of OSM. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 08:53, 9 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
I can take a look on OSM, but it might require discussion first, similar to this wiki. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 10:19, 9 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Since WV and WP both use this spelling, I went ahead and made the change to the “town” marker, but it may take a few hours to a few days for the map to update itself. But the correct data is there. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 10:28, 9 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Grahamsands: Try Ctrl+5 (or whatever causes a manual refresh if using Mac) on the OSM website. When zoomed in on the city, you should see "Portlaoise" now. Zoomed out may take longer for OSM to coordinate. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 15:53, 9 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Return to "Portlaoise" page.
