Trams and safety edit
I should maybe just plunge forward and edit the article, but I'm not an expert or that familiar with the city. I just visited Rio (and Sao Paulo) and I was scared stiff at first by all the stuff I'd picked up from guide books about the potential dangers. I'm not saying you don't need to be careful, but is it really as bad as all that? I didn't feel taking the tram was a risk and neither, by the looks of it, did hordes of other tourists. (I might add that my printed guide book made no mention of any danger related to the trams, except for one comment about the Estacao Carioca area where the trams start, which is completely the opposite to what the article says. I won't say what the guide said as I don't want to risk any copying.) While some general advice to take care and highlights of anything particularly dangerous is surely welcome, I can't help thinking the current article is over-egging the pudding a bit. The national museum has burned down edit
The Brazilian National Museum in the former Imperial Palace (Paço de São Cristóvão) was destroyed in a fire yesterday together with a huge number of historical artifacts from Brazil and all over the world. Surprisingly we hadn't listed this museum, though it's no point to do that any longer. Still, I think it's good to mention it here on the talk page, as it apparently was a major attraction and per Wikipedia one of the biggest of its kind in the Americas. --ϒpsilon (talk) 19:43, 3 September 2018 (UTC)
- Yeah, amazing that it wasn't listed. Terrible tragedy and also due to neglect and underfunding. Yes, it's worth mentioning that it burned down, so any visitor to the city who was hoping to go there will know not to bother. Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:37, 3 September 2018 (UTC)

- I looked at that article too before writing the comment, in the case someone had accidentally listed it there (per the district division and the map mask the museum should be in the Centro, but just 200 m from the border to North).
