تهران پايتخت ايران است پر جمعيت ترين شهر این کشور است

Is this a character issue? All I see is little squares...

Yeah, it's in Arabic script. It's gotta be either Farsi or Arabic -- my guess would be Farsi.
I replaced the Arabic text with a stub and template. If anyone reads the original language and can data-mine for some useful tips, it'd be appreciated. --(WT-en) Evan 11:53, 25 Apr 2004 (EDT)
I moved the deteted text to the top of this page. I see it as arabic script but we need somone who can translate it. -- (WT-en) Huttite 05:41, 27 Apr 2004 (EDT)

It is Persian (Farsi). Here's the translation I got through a friend from his coorespondant in Iran:

Hi Mark,

Here's the reply I got back from Yasmine:

> Hi Steve,
>
> It says 'Tehran is the capital of Iran and the highest populated city
> is Isfahan.' Two errors in one sentence, because Tehran has got the more
> population of any other city by far, and Isfahan has been misspelled
> as 'Isfan'.
>
> Yas

Many thanks to Steve and Yasmine

Who deleted Jaam-e-Jam food court and money changer text?

edit

I would like to know who edited out my contribution about the Jaam-e-Jam food court and the money changer offering the best rate on Ferdosi Street. I am in Tehran at the moment and would like to know why this good and correct info was deleted. What is the point of deleting correct and current info?

It appears that User:(WT-en) Evan removed some of your edits (see [1]), although aside from the use of first-person I'm not sure why that was done. Take a look at Project:First person pronouns and feel free to re-add any of the content that you'd like. Also note that you can sign your posts using four tildes (~~~~), making communication easier. -- (WT-en) Ryan 15:19, 16 November 2006 (EST)

Traffic

edit

Seriously, who wrote "The traffic in Tehran may exactly be considered the safest.Considering the nature of the traffic, Tehranis can be said to be good drivers." That is honestly complete BS, i've been there and it's crazy, not safe at all!

Learn section

edit

I think the Learn section in this article is exactly what it should not be. I'm tempted to remove everything except Loghatnameh Dehkhoda Institute & International Center for Persian Studies maybe, but they are not for tourists either. Thoughts? Jjtkk (talk) 07:59, 15 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

I'm an Iranian, as a native and citizen who lives here...

edit

I'm an Iranian and I live in Kermanshah and I've been to Tehran 2 or 3 times. I've never seen basij forces asking women to correct their hijabs, let alone arresting them! Is there reliable evidence they do so and if yes, how do you know they have been basijis? I'm not supporting anyone or any group, but this is my question regarding validity of this part. It doesn't seem to be de minimis, but the image is used only in a listing's image parameter. I don't think it is essential. The tower features also in the banner and in the lead image, but in those it is not the central motive. (The nomination was in January, has the bot been out of function?) –LPfi (talk) 06:10, 30 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
The bot seems to be out of date these days. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 06:15, 30 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
It doesn't seem essential to me, because we have [2]. If they go after that, we should host it locally. Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:05, 30 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
