Hello!
Welcome to Wikivoyage. You can edit your preferences to change how the software works for you. Please take a second to look at our copyleft and policies and guidelines, but feel free to plunge forward and edit some pages. Scanning the Manual of style, especially the article templates, can give you a good idea of how we like articles formatted. If you're new to our wiki software, MediaWiki, look at the Wiki markup to get an idea of how to edit a page. If you need help, check out the help desk, and if you need some info not on there, post a message in the travellers' pub.
Thanks for your edits to Shenyang and Liaoning! (WT-en) ::: Cacahuate 04:25, 4 February 2007 (EST)
9.18 Museum
editHey again... just a note to say that we don't make articles for specific sites like museums... this page describes what does/doesn't get its own article: Project:What is an article? - Thanks again! (WT-en) ::: Cacahuate 05:47, 4 February 2007 (EST)
- The same for Zhaoling, for which I have made a redirect to the Shenyang article. (WT-en) WindHorse 06:32, 4 February 2007 (EST)
Your work on Qianshan National Park seems to be a direct copy from this article: [1]. Unless you are the author of this work or you can provide evidence that have been given permission to use it by the author, then please delete as contravenes WT's copy right regulations. Thanks a lot. (WT-en) WindHorse 22:53, 4 February 2007 (EST)
Thanks!
editJust wanted to tell you thank you for all your great edits. And for sure all the edits and additions to Washington state. Keep up the good work, your efforts are appreciated. -- (WT-en) Tom Holland (xltel) 06:23, 25 February 2007 (EST)
- Also thanks for your contributions to the Chinese articles. They are really helpful. (WT-en) WindHorse 01:01, 26 February 2007 (EST)
- Yeah - the dongbei part of China is really nice, and the Manchu heritage in particularly is fascinating. Actually, China in general is really amazing. It has such a long history and profound culture. I always enjoy hanging out there. Anyway, thanks again for your input. (WT-en) WindHorse 01:25, 26 February 2007 (EST)
Greetings. I compressed the list of cities that are connected to Golmud by public transport because WT tries to avoid long strangling lists of places. While I agree that the article is little empty at the moment, having the 'vertical' list will encourage others to add other places in the same way. And, personally I don't think that the value or clarity of the information is depreciated in any way by being compressed. What do you think? Regarding the name of the station, (Qinghai Huoche Zhan - Jiangyuan Lu), I thought it was a mistake as I assumed Golmud Station would be named after the town, not the province. Mea culpa. I'll restore it. However, I cannot find any info about the bus station, only the huochezhan. Thanks for your feedback and also your great work on the Chinese pages. By the way, do you how the trains to Lhasa from, say, Guangzhou or Beijing, operate? They are advertised as direct trains, but I presume that passengers need to change in Golmud. If that is the case, then how long is the wait, do you know? I think that info would be very useful for travelers, but I have been unable to find exact details. Cheers. Jade Buddha
editWow. That's an amazing sculpture - really intricate. Is it Tang or Ming? Where is it displayed? (WT-en) WindHorse 01:06, 19 March 2007 (EDT)
- I should have waited to see where you were uploading the image. Now I already have the answer. (WT-en) WindHorse 01:07, 19 March 2007 (EDT)
- Thanks for the info on the Jade Buddha. I cannot see it clearly, but it is probably an image of Sakyamuni Buddha. Guanyin is the emanation of compassion and in the Chinese traditions is usually depicted as a female and has specific gestures [2]. Anyway, next time I make it to that part of China, I'll make sure to check it out. Thanks again for the info. (WT-en) WindHorse 02:21, 19 March 2007 (EDT)
isIn / isPartOf
editThe isIn template is a bit touchy about formatting. If a place "isIn" a place that has a name containing spaces, you need to replace the space with an underscore: "Kings County" → "Kings_County". Alternatively, just use the isPartOf template instead, which works the same as isIn but does any reformatting automatically. Other issues occasionally arise due to caching problems, but that's another story entirely... -- (WT-en) Ryan (talk) 18:01, 31 March 2007 (EDT)
Thanks!
editHaha, thanks, I guess it's because I've been living in Beijing for more than half a year! (And will probably continue to live here...) (WT-en) sea urchin 02:26, 16 April 2007 (EDT)
Tibetan
editI've changed the font type. See if that helps. Actually, the Tibetan is not essential. I just added to fer a few remote places where Chinese is not so common. (WT-en) WindHorse 12:46, 31 May 2007 (EDT)
- Sorry, I don't know why that is happening as I've never experienced that problem. Anyway, I've left a message for Evan, and requested that he reply to you directly. (WT-en) WindHorse 02:55, 1 June 2007 (EDT)

Tibet
editYou are doing a great job with Tibet. All the sub-articles and information you've introduced have really opened up the guide. Thanks. I'll definitely be using it on my next trip there. (WT-en) WindHorse 23:44, 2 June 2007 (EDT)
Hi
Re [3] - should that be Cuzco - Machu Picchu one week (6-7 day) excursion (caps. per Project:Article naming conventions#Capitalization) - ? ~ 61.47.94.214 01:43, 8 June 2007 (EDT)
Thank you for attention to Washington (state)
editHowdy! I have just started touching a wide range of destination articles in Washington (state), and so I'm just now noticing how much you contribute in that area. This morning, I saw that you were pitching in to create subregions for Puget Sound and were adding city URLs to many of the destinations. And from the edit history, you've been doing this for a while. Thank you for your contributions! (WT-en) JimDeLaHunt 16:06, 12 June 2007 (EDT)
Please, please, please be careful what information you put on Wikivoyage. Your recent edit to Lewis & Clark National Historic Trail was very useful in that the article was needed, and the visitor contact info is both really important and it looks like it would have taken a while to compile—thank you for that. But the text you added to "understand" constituted multiple copyright violations, from sites like [4], [5], [6], and possibly others still. We cannot copy text to Wikivoyage; all text must be original writing or be accompanied by explicit permission to use it under CC-by-SA 1.0. By copying text from other sites, you are not helping Wikivoyage, on the contrary, this winds up wasting other users' time (by creating a need to police contributions), and you possibly expose yourself and Wikivoyage to legal action. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 03:42, 26 June 2008 (EDT)
