Hi Cybjorg! Glad to see you here, and welcome. Here's the sort of standard welcome message which has a bunch of useful links for folks coming over from Wikipedia. There are a number of things we do differently (for instance our articles mostly have a pretty definite structure). Anyhow here are the links:

Just wondering

I'm a little curious as to how you "attempted" to vistit Syria. What's the story behind this and where did you end up going? (WT-en) Sapphire 01:03, 27 April 2006 (EDT)

As an American, I attempted to enter Syria from Jordan during a time when Syria wasn't too keen on United States. After visiting the Syrian embassy in Amman in order to acquire the proper visa, I was told by the Syrian consulate that I could purchase a visa at the border. Upon arrival at the border, however, the very unfriendly border control informed me that I should have purchased a visa at the embassy. After being made to wait for several hours, I finally went back to Amman. I plan to attempt entry again soon. - (WT-en) Cybjorg 01:23, 27 April 2006 (EDT)

Great map!

edit

Amazing map for the Old City! Please tell me you're making more for the other three quarters? Also, it would be nice if you could upload the original SVG file and list names of the numbered attractions in the map itself. (WT-en) Jpatokal 04:27, 27 April 2006 (EDT)

I am working on the other three. The SVG file, however, is 4MB. Will the upload feature allow files of that size? - (WT-en) Cybjorg 11:59, 27 April 2006 (EDT)
May be a little iffy, but complain to Evan if it doesn't. You might want to try (g)zipping it up first though to reduce the pain. 202.156.2.35 12:17, 27 April 2006 (EDT)
I got the SVG down to the managable size and uploaded it. I added some buildings on the map and listed the names on the map itself. However, I am having a hard time overwriting the current version of the image. Is it protected, perhaps? - (WT-en) Cybjorg 01:52, 28 April 2006 (EDT)
Actually I'd suggest you keep the numbers like you had earlier, but define the numbers in a separate box to the side — see Project:How to draw a map. As for uploading new versions, there's all sorts of caching weirdness involved but the long and short story of it is that it's working fine... I think... (WT-en) Jpatokal 02:02, 28 April 2006 (EDT)

Incredibly amazing work on the Old City quarter maps and the whole district page! Any chance of you whipping the rest of the Jerusalem articles into similar shape? (WT-en) Jpatokal 10:52, 30 April 2006 (EDT)

I'm still working on cleaning up the Old City article. Then I'll start on the rest of Jerusalem. - (WT-en) Cybjorg 12:43, 30 April 2006 (EDT)

Babel for Turkish and Arabic

edit

I just added the Turkish templates, but Arabic is a little more complex -- Wikivoyage's Babel code doesn't seem to do the right-to-left thing properly and the bolding is messed up too. You don't need to wait for intervention from a Power That Is though, just edit this and see what you can do... (WT-en) Jpatokal 06:31, 14 August 2006 (EDT)

Photos to shared!

edit

Just been looking at the photos you've uploaded! They look pretty cool! Any chance you could upload photos to shared next time? That way people from other language versions can get at them as well. Thanks. -- (WT-en) Tim 06:37, 14 August 2006 (EDT)

Sure thing. I wasn't aware that a shared resource existed, so thanks for the heads up. - (WT-en) Cybjorg 14:00, 16 August 2006 (EDT)
