Hello! Welcome to Wikivoyage. I would recommend to start with our Tips for new contributors if you feel like it. To specialize your experience you may want to consider editing your preferences. Please take a second to look at our copyleft and policies and guidelines, but feel free to plunge forward and edit some pages. Scanning the manual of style, especially the article templates, can give you a good idea of how we like articles formatted. If you're new to the whole wiki software look at the wiki markup to get an idea of how to use the wiki markup. If you need help, check out Project:Help, and if you need some info not on there, post a message in the travellers' pub. -- (WT-en) Colin 10:51, 19 December 2006 (EST)
Just want to say great job on all the pages on Southern Utah! It's hard to believe there wasn't even a Cedar Breaks article just a few days ago, you've done some incredible work. There are some style issues, like the "Eat" places on the Cedar Breaks article. Basically, if there's no where to eat in the park, just say that the nearest restaurants are in "the nearby towns of (insert name of town here) and (insert name of town here)". The links interconnect the articles, so there's no need to repeat the same information on a different article.
Anyway, great work and great pictures! (WT-en) PerryPlanet 03:08, 22 December 2006 (EST)
Thanks for the welcome. Southern Utah is my favorite haunt. I spend a lot of time there.
Images
editHi Frank,
Would you please upload images to Wikivoyage Shared? We prefer images be uploaded to Shared because that's our central image repository and any images uploaded there can be used on the Wikivoyage version or any of our other language versions. Thanks. -- (WT-en) Andrew H. (Sapphire) 13:37, 27 December 2006 (EST)
- Hi Andrew. I am new to all this, but I will give it my best try. I just signed up for it and will attempt to load some photos there. :)
- Cool. Also, to automatically sign your comments all you have to do is type: ~~~~. Typing that will automatically sign your comments for you. It'll display like this: -- (WT-en) Andrew H. (Sapphire) 14:00, 27 December 2006 (EST)
Thanks Andrew! I just loaded one, but I am a bit lost. I hope I did it right. I went to the main page instead of using the tool box to the left.
Kudos on Kanab
editNice work on Kanab. I've been there a couple of times and always enjoyed it... I just promoted it to a "guide" and I think, with some work, it could be a star! Keep up the good work. (WT-en) Maj 19:47, 27 December 2006 (EST)
Thanks Maj! I hike and visit the Kanab, Springdale, Mount Carmel Junction area often! I think I have done just about every trail, canyon and many of the climbing routes in the area. It's my favorite place in the world and I love to share information about that area.
Huzzahs on Zion
editI echo Maj's comments regarding Zion National Park. Super work! Incidentally, we've nominally started collaborating with the embryonic WikiOutdoors, with the idea that that could become a place for more detailed trail descriptions, etc., than can be given here; you might consider contributing there as well, to get the collaboration energized. I've been doing the same for Bandelier National Monument (where I've volunteered for years) and would be happy to help. -- (WT-en) Bill-on-the-Hill 16:22, 31 December 2006 (EST)
Thanks everyone and thanks for your help!!!! I have had my eye on Wikioutdoors. It's near the top of my to do list! I have a bit of experience in trail writing. :)
- Another thanks from me, you helped a lot with Zion, and it made it to star after all. The great outcome of the strife over the map is that a few people are now hard at work making a template and further hashing out mapping details which should make it easier for new map users, and hopefully lead to more maps! Anyway, thanks again! (WT-en) - Cacahuate 19:59, 22 February 2007 (EST)
?
editI just spend a fair amount of time in Zion Frank, and saw a couple minor 'typos' so thought I'd set them right! :-) Bo
Thanks Bo. I moved your comment over here. You stuck it on my user page. (WT-en) FrankEM
User page
editWould you want me to delete your user page or just leave it blanked? -- (WT-en) Andrew H. (Sapphire) 09:57, 12 January 2007 (EST)
Blank is okay for now. I will get around to doing something with it. :) (WT-en) FrankEM
