DisneyWorld maps

edit

I might be able to update the DisneyWorld map at some point, but it'll probably take a while. I'm afraid my life is too busy now to make maps for the individual theme parks. Making a good map takes time, and you should know that it is asking a lot to ask someone to make 5 separate maps. However, you're more than welcome to give it a shot yourself. I updated the DisneyWorld map. (WT-en) PerryPlanet 01:04, 11 September 2008 (EDT)

DisneyWorld

edit

Hey

I just wanted to commend you on your work on the DisneyWorld guide, i can see you're getting frustrated about the progress of the star nomination, and I just wanted to reach out and give you a pat on the back for your work - it is excellent.

Please be aware that the star articles are sort of the showcase of the community, and people are really nit picky, because it means something to them, as they spend a lot of time here. Just - don't despair alright :-)

Personally, I'm missing some map(s) showing the location of the ride - and then i'd throw in my support

Kind regards (WT-en) Sertmann 19:51, 23 September 2008 (EDT)

Hey there, let's keep the conversation at Talk:Disneyland, that way more people see it and can comment on it :) – (WT-en) cacahuate talk 17:01, 24 September 2008 (EDT)

Re: Walt Disney World redirect problem

edit

Something odd with the way redirects and caches work. The page at "http://en.wikivoyage.org/wiki/Walt_Disney_World" was cached as an older version, even though the actual (redirected) text at "http://en.wikivoyage.org/wiki/Walt_Disney_World_Resort" had since changed. I had no idea that was even possible. Anyway, a quick purge of the redirect page (via "http://en.wikivoyage.org/w/index.php?title=Walt_Disney_World&action=purge") fixed it. Pensacola Beach

edit

Thanks for your work on the Pensacola Beach article! You're pretty good at fixing some of those weird little sentences I make sometimes. I can't believe I typed 1780 instead of 1880 when talking about Lt. Langdon. And while I'm posting here, I'll also say you've done some incredible stuff with the Walt Disney World article! --(WT-en) Tally talk 12:25, 9 October 2008 (EDT)

Re: New infobox

edit

Cute, but I think we should stick to images of Walt Disney World. (WT-en) LtPowers 16:13, 14 October 2008 (EDT)

Hey, nice to see you back working on Disney World, was sort of worried the star nomination discussion had discouraged you --(WT-en) Stefan (sertmann) Talk 23:41, 9 December 2008 (EST)

Re: New Walt Disney World edit

I'll pare it down. (WT-en) LtPowers 09:09, 28 January 2009 (EST)

Disney Tokyo map

edit

It's not "my" map, it's a PD map scrounged off Wikipedia. This is indeed better, but unfortunately it's GFDL and not compatible with our licensing. (WT-en) Jpatokal 00:56, 22 May 2009 (EDT)

Re: the newer map, here's the editable SVG [1], so add the missing bits yourself! (WT-en) Jpatokal 22:25, 8 July 2009 (EDT)
Open the above file with the program inkscape [2], there is some tips on how to mangle with maps at: How to draw a map and Project:How to create a map, and there is a good external manual here tavmjong.free.fr. But mostly I'll encourage you to just open the svg in Inkscape and play around with the tools, it's rather easy to get the hang of. --(WT-en) Stefan (sertmann) Talk 10:27, 9 July 2009 (EDT)

Nice work

edit

This is good stuff, Jonathan. Keep up the great work. Sorry I removed that other infobox you wrote; it's good info but just not what we need in a travel guide. (WT-en) LtPowers 11:27, 29 May 2009 (EDT)

Re: Minor WDW map error

edit

Nice catch; I screwed up when I was renumbering. Feel free to fix it yourself if you get to it before I do. =) (WT-en) LtPowers 12:41, 11 June 2009 (EDT)

Osprey Ridge Golf Course

edit

Hi, Jonathan. Re: this edit, I put Osprey Ridge in the Downtown Disney area for two reasons: 1) That's where WDW puts it, and 2) I think it's more readily accessible from the Port Orleans/Downtown Disney area than from the Magic Kingdom area, despite its proximity to Fort Wilderness. (WT-en) LtPowers 09:20, 18 June 2009 (EDT)

Re: Good job

edit

One thing at a time. =) Studios is almost up to snuff. I still need to expand the See/Do descriptions and add something about the Wide World of Sports complex. (WT-en) LtPowers 09:24, 5 July 2009 (EDT)

I found some time to work on the Studios article today and have nominated it for Star status. Please review and comment at your leisure, and feel free to help with any improvements that are requested. (WT-en) LtPowers 22:14, 5 July 2009 (EDT)

Re: How do I create or edit a map?

edit

Well, for Tokyo Disney, you could always ask User:(WT-en) Tatata, who created the map, to modify it to include the missing items. =) However, modifying it yourself would be a good first step rather than trying to create one from scratch. We have instructions at Project:How to draw a map, but in short: you'll need a program called Inkscape (a free vector image editor), and you'll need to play around with it a bit to learn how things are done. You could start by taking the Tokyo Disney map (start with the SVG, the vector version: Image:JP Map of Tokyo Disney Resort.svg) and loading it in Inkscape and seeing how different parts of it are put together. WDW images

edit

Hi, Jonathan. I noticed you've uploaded several images without specifying where they came from or even, in some cases, what license they're under. I urge you to go through your contributions and make sure they include all of the necessary information: description, source, author, and license. You can see an example on wts:Image:Japanese pagoda at Epcot.jpg, which you uploaded, where I pulled in the necessary information from Wikimedia Commons. Thanks a ton for your help! (WT-en) LtPowers 14:41, 22 July 2009 (EDT)

Hey, just wondering if you saw this. Let me know. (WT-en) LtPowers 15:03, 25 August 2009 (EDT)
Great, thanks. I also did a couple that I wanted to use in the Epcot article, you can use them as examples if that would help: Image:Reflections of Earth 9.jpg, Image:BoardwalkInn.jpg. It's really important to have that information correct; otherwise I wouldn't be harping on it. (And it's easiest if you do it when you upload them, instead of waiting for later.) (WT-en) LtPowers 11:25, 27 August 2009 (EDT)

Steve Jobs

edit

Hi, Jonathan. Regarding this reversion, I apologize. I hit the rollback button by mistake, so I wasn't able to explain why I removed it in the edit summary. Here's my explanation: the scene in Spaceship Earth shows only one person, not two, and that one person is definitely not a young Steve Jobs. The figure does resemble Steve Wozniak, but Disney claims that it's not supposed to represent any real person. So that's why I removed your addition. I hope you understand. (WT-en) LtPowers 22:20, 5 October 2011 (EDT)

I do understand. Thanks for correcting me. (WT-en) Jonathan 784 09:04, 6 October 2011 (EDT)
