Welcome

edit

Hello Nicolas1981! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Project:Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub.

Well, it's a few years late, but better late than never! – (WT-en) cacahuate talk 14:08, 12 October 2008 (EDT)

Fuji

edit

We don't do external links here, please add any hotel listings right on the page itself. Also, climbing Mt Fuji (incl. mountain huts) is covered in the separate Mount Fuji article. (WT-en) Jpatokal 05:43, 16 July 2009 (EDT)

Ah, thanks, sorry about that. (WT-en) Nicolas1981 06:28, 16 July 2009 (EDT)

Syntax Checks

edit

Your (WT-en) Syntax checks should be part of an expedition. See my comments on User talk:(WT-en) Nicolas1981/Syntax checks/no-ispartof-nor-isin. If you explain what you are trying to achieve, launching an expedition might be quite easy. - (WT-en) Huttite 19:14, 31 October 2009 (EDT)

Nicolas: Love the Oxygen Guide ... but the current download link (http://ia360701.us.archive.org/5/items/OxygenguideOfflineWorldTravelGuide0.4/oxygenguide_0.4.zip) seems to be broken; index.html in 0.3 (which I have on my machine currently) suggested that I could leave comments here (viz., or your WikiTravel page). Cheers for any help sorting this out!

Fixed :-) https://code.google.com/p/oxygenguide/downloads/list Thanks for the feedback! (WT-en) Nicolas1981 03:24, 8 February 2011 (EST)

Nuts and Bolts..

edit

Hi - I used your list of malformed URLs to fix them all, so good to know that task is complete.

I installed oxygenguide on my tablet, it works fine, and while I was downloading it I used the wikicode dump to generate some stats and other things which has kept me amused for a while. Good stuff. --(WT-en) Inas 17:37, 1 December 2011 (EST)

Updated OxygenGuide MOBI

edit

I've had no real success yet trying to compile OxygenGuide 0.5 into a MOBI (for Kindle). At first, I ran into "Source file is not valid UTF8" errors with some of the HTML files using either KindleGen (MobiGen) or Mobipocket Creator on the OPF. Then I started using the pre-compiled 32-bit opf2mobi.exe (from MobiPerl), bot got crashes, I assume due to memory issues.

So finally I used the opf2mobi Perl script with 64-bit ActivePerl for Windows. Runs at 100% CPU, up to 2.5GB memory, for seven hours and counting. The message it is spinning on for so long talks about the "spine" whatever that might be. I've had to stop the process. (Windows 7 64-bit, 4GB, 2.4GHz Intel i3 M370)

Do you have any hints? Would it be easier for you to compile a new MOBI? Might you be able to take a new WikiCode scrape beforehand? ;) I'd love to dive into this myself further, but we're....travelling.

Hi Niaxilin! Did you finally manage to generate a MOBI? Would you have time to get the wikicode? See http://code.google.com/p/oxygenpump/ Cheers! (WT-en) Nicolas1981 06:33, 23 April 2012 (EDT)
