Scanning the manual of style, especially the article templates, can give you a good idea of how we like articles formatted. I just wanted to thank you for all the work you have been doing on the East Sussex region; it is clear you are very knowledgeable and have a lot to contribute! Just so you are aware, Wikivoyage avoids HTML markup--wiki markup allows you to create line breaks without the <br> tag by simply hitting return.

Ashdown Forest

Hi Jack,

I noticed that you are putting up a lot of great information about the Ashdown Forest! I would really love to see more itinerary-style information like this for England's many "Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty."

Unfortunately, as it stands currently, it isn't clear how it fits into our wikivoyage geographical hierarchy. Maybe it would help to review Project:Where you can stick it and Project:What is an article? to help get a better idea of how to classify and organize all this excellent information. My hunch is that you could make a great inter-city itinerary for this destination. I think that Pubs and Inns of Ashdown Forest, however, probably does not fit into our Project:What is an article guidelines; perhaps you could merge this content into appropriate city pages throughout East Sussex or into the proposed itineraries for Ashdown Forest and The forest way? I think that Unusual Places in Ashdown Forest, while potentially a valid travel topic, could also simply be merged into the "See" section of Ashdown Forest.

Forest Way and WikiOutdoors

I've been doing the daily tidying of VFD'd articles and came across the discussion pertaining to the The forest way article. As noted in the VFD page, I'm not convinced this qualifies as an Itinerary, but I'm definitely convinced that it's valuable information -- as noted there, my wife and I spent a really fabulous vacation in the UK cycling on paths like this one. Let me suggest a path forward, so to speak: This strikes me as a perfect candidate for Project:Cooperating with WikiOutdoors. WikiOutdoors is another wiki that exists to provide more detailed info on hiking/cycling/skiing/birding/etc. opportunities that are too granular to fit smoothly here. If you could move the Forest Way content into a WikiOutdoors article and then make references back and forth between that one and the appropriate articles here, all involved will be better off for it -- WikiOutdoors needs a lot more content than it currently has, and the collaboration will be strengthened. Formatting to be a guide article

Hey Jack, I noticed you upgraded the East Sussex article from usable to guide. You definitely have contributed enough information for the article to be a guide, but it is possible that other users will downgrade it back to usable because much of it is improperly formatted. I strongly recommend reading, or at least skimming through, the Project:Manual of style. Among other formatting issues, I have noticed that you are still inserting <br> tags when you just need to hit return. Please, please, please do not use <br> tags—it is tedious to remove them, but necessary to remove them to keep articles in accordance with the Project:Manual of style. --(WT-en) Peterfitzgerald ^Talk 15:19, 5 June 2007 (EDT)

New images

I just nominated Image:LewesCastle.JPG for deletion because it does not comply with our copyleft. To upload an image, it must be either copyrighted under cc-by-sa 1.0-2.5 or in the public domain. Moreover, you must specify the licensing when uploading. This particular image is licensed under GDFL, which makes it a copyright violation, and will therefore be deleted. Please double check that the images you have uploaded are acceptable under our Project:Copyleft and please edit their entries to show their source and licensing. Ideally, these should be pictures that you yourself have taken. Devils Dyke

Rule of thumb is that if a traveller can't sleep there, or it won't support a decent article, it should be included in the town in which it is or a nearby destination. As a landscape feature I think it should be included in whichever existing article you deem fit. -- (WT-en) OldPine 16:40, 7 January 2008 (EST)

Image:Map_of_East_Sussex.JPG license

I am busy cleaning up the vfd page where this image is listed for deletion.

I have changed the license on Image:Map_of_East_Sussex.JPG from cc-by-sa-1.0 to cc-by-sa-2.0. As a derivative work of cc-by-sa-2.0 material from openstreetmaps we can not downgrade the license to version 1.0. The cc-by-sa-2.0 states:

You may distribute, publicly display, publicly perform, or publicly digitally perform a Derivative Work only under the terms of this License, a later version of this License with the same License Elements as this License, or a Creative Commons iCommons license that contains the same License Elements as this License (e.g. Attribution-ShareAlike 2.0 Japan)

Whether or not we may use non-cc-by-sa-1.0 images is a totally different discussion and of no concern here, the only concern I have is that we correctly license and attribute derivative work.
