Hello, 108.34.48.20! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Wikivoyage:Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub.

By the way, have you considered creating an account here? While you can absolutely keep contributing as an anonymous user, it promises a bunch of benefits, and no obligations.

Thanks a lot for adding content to the Houston/Downtown article, but some of the listings you added have been reverted because they are out of keeping with this site's don't tout guidelines and in one case, also the External links#What not to link to guidelines. Hotels typically advertise themselves as being "conveniently located near a, b, c, x, y and z", but that kind of language can't be used on Wikivoyage. Please look at the "Good" and "Bad" examples at Wikivoyage:Don't tout and do your best to emulate the "Good" example closely in your listings.

Thanks a lot!

All the best,

Also have a look at Wikivoyage:Words to avoid. You'll see "conveniently located" there. Any entry with that or similar expressions is likely to be reverted/deleted. Ikan Kekek (talk) 04:12, 5 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Explaining deletions

edit

Hi again. I appreciate it if you're deleting restaurants that are out of business, but if so, you have to say so. Do that by typing "closed" or something similar in an edit summary that you type in the "Summary" box below your edit screen. Thank you. Ikan Kekek (talk) 01:32, 7 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

So please feel free to (re)delete any listings for restaurants (and stores, etc.) that are out of business; just give a clear reason, that's all. Ikan Kekek (talk) 04:44, 7 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

This is the discussion page for an anonymous user who has not created an account yet, or who does not use it. We therefore have to use the numerical IP address to identify them. Such an IP address can be shared by several users. If you are an anonymous user and feel that irrelevant comments have been directed at you, please create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other anonymous users.
