Clovermoss
Welcome
editHello Clovermoss! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page.
If you are a Wikipedian, then you may notice some differences in policies and the style of our articles. These include:
- NPOV → be fair (not quite the same thing!)
- be bold → plunge forward
- Village pump → travellers' pub
- External links → We do not use a separate external links section, but incorporate primary links only into the text itself.
- sandbox → graffiti wall
- stub tagging → article status
It may also be very useful for you to check out Wikivoyage:Welcome, Wikipedians. If you need help, take a look at Wikivoyage:Help, or else post a message in the Wikivoyage:Travellers' pub, as a reply below or on my talk page. Thanks for contributing!
If you were wondering, we don't use references here; nonetheless, thanks for your update to Niagara Falls! --SHB2000 (t | c | m) 02:30, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
Listings
editHey, continuing from our off-wiki conversation about listings, here's a general guide:
- To add numbers on listings, you would need to fill out the
|lat=
and|long=
fields. If they are blank, no number will appear. - Generally coordinates are only added for places that are in a permanent location – it's completely normal for listings for festivals to have no coordinates and therefore no numbering (a good example would be York#Events and festivals).
- If there are multiple listings, but say only the third listing has its
|lat=
and|long=
fields filled out, the third listing will appear as number 1 (as you probably noticed in Thorold). - The numbers are clickable – if you happen to click on them, you'll be taken to the dynamic map in full screen. The main purpose of the numbers is to match them on a map.
I think that's it, but I might have missed something – feel free to chuck me a ping (here on this talk page, in edit summaries or on Discord, whatever suits you) or leave me a message on my talk page if you have any more questions.
Cheers :-).

- Thank you. I appreciate this a lot. Clovermoss (talk) 01:22, 10 October 2024 (UTC)
- @SHB2000: My enwiki instincts may have gotten the better of me. Do these italics mean anything? Should I have kept them? Clovermoss (talk) 00:38, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
- No I don't believe so (i.e. italics were erroneous) – cheers for removing them. --SHB2000 (t | c | m) 02:36, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
