Jjtk~enwikivoyage
Hello, Jjtk! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Project:Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. --Globe-trotter (talk) 19:49, 25 September 2012 (CEST)
UNESCO
editWell done on Europe. That seems to be the longest of all the continents! I've done Africa and Asia and think I might move them to the main article now, as all the content needed has been extracted. You and Globe-trotter can feel free to move your continents whenever they're done, which is looking like soon. I know there are inconsistencies all over the place, but we can iron most of them out later once the list is done. For now, I'm just making sure that each site has an (approximate) location. A long-term goal would be writing content for each site in the article it belongs. Also, about sites like the Belfries of France and Belgium, once we move to the WMF, there's the possibility of installing the collapsible extension, which would make things much easier. Until then, maybe we can create a travel topic and just shove them all in there, linking from the table? Thanks! JamesA >talk 09:59, 29 September 2012 (CEST)
- Collapsible tables would be great! For the belfries we can make a travel topic but I don't really know anything about them and most of them are in towns that don't have an article...
- I'm almost ready to move to the article. I see we took kind of different approach to the "Location" part, my nerdism kicked in and I wanted the sort function to allow checking easily how many sites there are in particular area of a country. But that can be changed later. Jjtk (talk) 10:10, 29 September 2012 (CEST)
- (edit conflict) Regarding Russia, maybe keep it all in Europe, but have a header in the Asia section that will redirect users back up to the European header. I also find it seriously strange to list Siberian sites in Europe, but I'm going by what's official: [1]. The link lists Kamchatka in the 'EUR' region (strangely enough, the EUR region includes North America as well!). In terms of Turkey, I'm not sure. I would've thought Asia too, but the UNESCO site says 'EUR'. Then again, we don't have to follow official rules and can chuck them both in Asia if it will benefit the traveller.
- Yeah, I see we did kind of do different things with Location!! That's okay though, we can work on it later. I was confused myself while going through the sites. For example, look at Lebanon. For 4 of the sites, the Name and Location columns are exactly the same! Seems a bit odd but wasn't sure what else to do. JamesA >talk 10:21, 29 September 2012 (CEST)
Deletions in Region articles
editI noticed you are deleting a lot of Sleep listings in Region articles. You might notice the suggestion in the "movelistings" tag it that these "should be moved to the appropriate city articles". It does take a lot more work to move them then deleting. But in my opinion moving is a much better solution then deleting as we are trying to organize and add content, not remove valuable listings. In some cases you may find there is not a city article where you can move the listing. I would suggest in that case you look into creating an article. It took a good amount of my time to create an article for Fieberbrunn, to move a listing you deleted from the Tyrol region, but I believe new valuable information was provided and valuable information was not removed. I would suggest if you are not going to move them, then leave them for the high energy editor to take care of. Please do continue your work, we do need a lot of clean up and your effort is needed. - Xltel (talk) 17:25, 21 November 2012 (UTC)
- Hi, I removed them because they were added by a one user who was asked multiple times not to include sleep listings without rates and description on regional level (even got a temporary block for that) and who came back today. Maybe my action was too strict, I'll refrain from this from now on. Jjtk (talk) 17:39, 21 November 2012 (UTC)
- Again, thanks for all your efforts. I would say if they are valid listings leave them and if they are in a Region page be sure and add the "movelistings" tag. I should point out, all my comments are my personal beliefs and may not necessarily Wikivoyage policy. My belief is it is better to have a blank outline template for a place so other visitors have an outline to use to add information then to delete, that said I don't believe we should randomly go adding blank templates. I also believe even the smallest places deserve a listing as you never know where a traveler will visit. It is my hope we can take Wikivoyage to a higher level and make it "the" site that travelers will visit for all their travel information. Again, thanks for all the work you do. -- Xltel (talk) 18:04, 21 November 2012 (UTC)
Just hello
editHi. Just popping my head through your door to say, hello, thanks, and keep up the good work. Nurg (talk) 09:03, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
- Hello! Jjtk (talk) 10:43, 21 December 2012 (UTC)
Thanks and sorry
editThanks for your help with E11. And sorry, this morning we worked on it at the same time, and I deleted one of your newest changes (a reference to Berlin-Charlottenburg and maybe more). I am not familiar with referencing by stating a website in the text, so I must leave that to you. But note that there is an alarm among the list of references. I stop with working on the text now, having removed all unnecessary red links (the remainder should lead to articles). DrMennoWolters (talk) 11:15, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
- Hi! It's a really nice article. I think all my edits are in. You can see our policy on references here: external links. Basically, we don't reference ;) Jjtk (talk) 12:56, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
Patrolling
editThanks for helping out with patrolling! Can you mark edits you have patrolled? If you can, please do, so other editors don't have to patrol them again. Thanks :-) Globe-trotter (talk) 14:42, 15 January 2013 (UTC)
- Unfortunately I can't for some reason. Jjtk (talk) 15:28, 15 January 2013 (UTC)
- Ah, I understand. Some others can't as well. We really need to sort this out. Globe-trotter (talk) 16:39, 15 January 2013 (UTC)
sleep listings should go in districts
editHello, You revereted my contribution in the article about Jerusalem. I've added a famous hostel to the "Sleep" section, but you reverted it, explaining: "sleep listings should go in districts". I did not quite understood what do you mean. Can you elaborate? --Victor (talk) 20:37, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
- Hi! Jerusalem is one of the articles that became big enough to be "districtified" (divided into smaller chunks, like Berlin or Rio de Janeiro) and after that moment all individual listing should be moved to these districts and the main article should contain brief overview. Unfortunately, we lack a knowledgeable contributor who would move restaurants and hotels to appropriate districts from the main article, but still, all new listings should go to appropriate districts (that's what it says on the top of sleep section as well). Jjtk (talk) 21:29, 21 January 2013 (UTC)
- Hi! I think I'll take the job. Actually, the districts themselves are a bit messed up, I'll invest some time in putting them into order, in the mean time I'll revert it so the information is not lost. I've already put some hard work on the "See" section. --Victor (talk) 00:21, 22 January 2013 (UTC)
- It would be great if you helped out! It seems there was no discussion before the fragmentation, that's why it's messed up. I'd help but I don't know the city. Jjtk (talk) 08:44, 22 January 2013 (UTC)
- I've created a section in Jerusalem:Talk in order to get some feedback about districts before I get to work. Nobody responded, yet. I'll be glad if you could post something there. --Victor (talk) 16:10, 24 January 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, I've seen it and I've forwarded it to the "request for comment" page. As I said, I don't know Jerusalem, but maybe you can draw some inspiration from Kraków article which I districtified myself. Jjtk (talk) 23:51, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
Sleep Listings
editHi, thanks for the edit tips. I'll make the changes as suggested, but can you please delete those current listings that do not have pricing and/or description as well?
Thanks! —The preceding comment was added by 66.193.169.130 (talk • contribs)

red link cleanup
editJust for completeness of removing the pages with broken file links list, do you still need the page User:Jjtk/UNESCO layout? Can it be deleted, blanked or the offending red link images commented out? --Traveler100 (talk) 11:27, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
Your account will be renamed
editHello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Jjtk. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Jjtk~enwikivoyage that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
