Hello Karalgikarrahul! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page.

If you are a Wikipedian then you may notice some differences in policies and the style of our articles. These include:

It may also be very useful for you to check out Wikivoyage:Welcome, Wikipedians. If you need help, take a look at Wikivoyage:Help, or else post a message in the travellers' pub or on my talk page. Thanks for contributing!

Thanks for starting an article about Kumaraparvata! But are you sure it needs its own article, separate from Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary? Please read Wikivoyage:What is an article? Unlike Wikipedia, Wikivoyage doesn't have an article about every mountain, every river, etc. Wildlife sanctuaries, when not within a city, often do get their own articles, using the park article template, but a mountain within a wildlife sanctuary would seem to be merely one attraction (though perhaps the main one) in the sanctuary. What do you think about this?

According to your suggestion, I felt it to be correct not to have a separate topic on Kumaraparvata. So I have moved the page to Pushpagiri wildlife sanctuary. Thanks for your help. Karalgikarrahul (talk) 05:39, 3 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

You're welcome. Thank you for your contributions! Just FYI, I moved the page again, to Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary, because keeping all words in the place name capitalised is standard on this site. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:17, 3 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Changing place names

edit

Hi, Karalgikarrahul. I'm aware that Mangaluru is the local name for the city the English called Mangalore, but please keep in mind that Wikis work based on consensus, and changing the name of a city is a momentous decision that must be discussed on the article's talk page (in this case, Talk:Mangalore. You would need to present your case and wait to see if a consensus in favor of a change develops. The test on this site is which name is used most commonly _in English_. I should say that I definitely anticipate a change to Bengaluru and Mangaluru, but I don't know if the time is now and would need to see some evidence on usage.

All the best,
