Prosperosity
Welcome
editHello Prosperosity! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page.
If you are a Wikipedian, then you may notice some differences in policies and the style of our articles. These include:
- NPOV → be fair (not quite the same thing!)
- be bold → plunge forward
- Village pump → travellers' pub
- External links → We do not use a separate external links section, but incorporate primary links only into the text itself.
- sandbox → graffiti wall
- stub tagging → article status
It may also be very useful for you to check out Wikivoyage:Welcome, Wikipedians. If you need help, take a look at Wikivoyage:Help, or else post a message in the Wikivoyage:Travellers' pub, as a reply below or on my talk page. Thanks for contributing!
Please discuss page moves (except pages recently created) before making them. Are there North Shores or North Harbours in Aucklands elsewhere? AlasdairW (talk) 15:32, 24 November 2023 (UTC)
- @AlasdairW: Hi AlasdairW, I moved the page for a few reasons:
- Consistency across all Wiki projects
- The page is taking about the North Shore - there's a single instance of a location outside the shore mentioned on the page.
- North Harbour is also the name of a specific suburb, and its not a very commonly used term for Auckland north of the Waitemata Harbour. --Prosperosity (talk) 21:59, 24 November 2023 (UTC)
- For Wikivoyage purposes, it is a large district of the huge city Auckland, and was called North Shore (New Zealand), until it was renamed in 2015 after the discussion in Talk:Auckland#Split_Auckland_metropolitan_area_and_the_former_Auckland_City_area. If it is renamed, the static map on the Auckland page needs to be updated and several other articles changed. AlasdairW (talk) 22:54, 24 November 2023 (UTC)
