Welcome
editHello! Welcome to Wikivoyage. Thanks for plunging forward so far. If you're going to continue working on Wikivoyage, you may find the tips for new contributors helpful.
You should also make sure you understand our copyleft and policies and guidelines. Scanning the Manual of style, especially the article templates, can give you a good idea of how we like articles formatted.
If you need help, check out Project:Help, and if you need some info not on there, post a message in the travellers' pub or on the talk page for the most appropriate article. --(WT-en) Evan 00:13, 30 Jul 2004 (EDT)
Aussie Orange
editHi Mary, Got your msg about Orange. Your Aussie Orange puts me to shame, however. Or should I say "gives me inspiration"? :-) Cheers (WT-en) Bob 20:00 16 Sep 2004 (BST)
Multiple links to the same article
editHi, don't really know how Wikivoyage handles "too near" links. I guess it is up to you. I though every time we had to include the link, that is why I did it. Sorry about that. (WT-en) Echiner
Yes, you are correct: Project:Internal links says "try to only link the first instance of an article name" -- (WT-en) Colin 18:50, 14 Oct 2004 (EDT)
Image with Caption
editSaw your "Float image right with wiki markup" modification at Geneva, I modified it for "Image right to frame fix" to bring caption underneath ~ (WT-en) Bijee 10:25, 1 Nov 2004 (EST)
I shall have to learn to preview
edit....at least when using the discussion pages. Sorry about that. I guess I should go put my comment back the way it was in the first place. -- (WT-en) Mark 05:25, 2 Nov 2004 (EST)
- Yeah, you're right... I'll leave it then. -- (WT-en) Mark 05:36, 2 Nov 2004 (EST)
Move Cjensen's msg to Ralfi's talk page
editDOH!
And by the way, thanks for doing such a great job contributing here! You make a very noticible difference. -- (WT-en) Colin 12:54, 6 Nov 2004 (EST)
Mountains in Central Switzerland
editHi, Mary. I'm not sure if it's really worth bringing up at least until somebody takes the trouble to actually write the articles, but I think some of the mountains in Central Switzerland might actually qualify as destinations.
The reason I think so is that the usual rule-of-thumb is "do you sleep there", for Mnt. Rigi and Pilatus this is definitely true, especially Rigi, which has something like 10 different hotels up and down the mountain.
That said, I'd rather stay in Lucerne, but I like to be in town. I just thought you'd like to know that there might be some room to treat these particular mountains as destinations. Of course I'm not going to put them back myself just out of laziness. ;) -- (WT-en) Mark 06:44, 12 Nov 2004 (EST)
Touristics
editHey, consider me a supporter of your campaign to weed out the term "touristic"! I agree, it's a confused mistranslation, even though it apparently is a legitimate English word, unlike "museal" (apparently meaning "of/in a museum"), which I've seen popping up at Wikipedia... -- (WT-en) Paul Richter 04:18, 16 Nov 2004 (EST)
I'm wondering why the campaign though, and what would be an alternative, is the word touristy better? -- (WT-en) PeterW
Sorry about that
editI have no idea why one of my changes to the pub caused such confusion -- it didn't warn me about conflicting changes or anything useful like that. Anyway, I think I repaired the damage, but you might want to verify your parts of the article... -- (WT-en) Colin 18:17, 16 Dec 2004 (EST)
