Hello, Surfer43! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here. Thanks for your contributions! Regarding your edit to Wikivoyage:Wikivoyage and Wikitravel, personal anecdotes are probably best discussed on Wikivoyage talk:Wikivoyage and Wikitravel before updating the main article. There have already been multiple court cases involving IB and WT, so it's best to tread very, very carefully in this area to avoid further issues. -- Ryan • (talk) • 21:35, 2 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
Sorry. I just am pretty shocked they blocked me that fast. Surfer43 (talk) 21:39, 2 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
It's pretty clear that WV is a much more open community, although in fairness we've also blocked a few people who appeared to be trolling for IB. In any case, if you've got suggestions for updating the Wikivoyage:Wikivoyage and Wikitravel please plunge forward, just keep in mind that of all the articles on the site, that one is perhaps the most likely to have lawyers reading over it, so we need to be pretty careful not to make any statements that are too open to interpretation. -- Ryan • (talk) • 21:57, 2 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
Really sorry, I noticed you were sued for helping to create this fork. I was interested what would happen when I put on their Travellers' pub that they tried to sue two contributors for creating a fork and gave the name of a non-commercial alternative. It's ironic that the company also owns Nolo, "law for all". Surfer43 (talk) 22:58, 2 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
