Life expectancy and refugees
editDearest 210.200.105.229, thanks for your hard work in filling up this article, but please consider creating an account to make it a little easier to communicate! So for the record, let's stick with 63 years as taken from [1]. And yes, there are two sides to every coin, but the view the government doesn't publicize also deserves a mention... Agreed.
Population
editI've reverted Tom's revert of Stephen Atkin's edit. The UN and CIA estimate that the population is roughly 2,279,723 [2], while Bhutan's census bureau places the population at 672,425 [3]. This is such a wild discrepancy that I've noted both figures. -- (WT-en) Andrew H. (Sapphire) 15:45, 27 December 2006 (EST)
- Before thorough censuses were conducted, it was indeed widely thought that the population of Bhutan ranged from around 1.5 million to 2.5 million. However, these figures have been discredited in the light of the 2005 census [4] which Bhutan conducted in order to draw up a list of eligible voters for the 2008 elections as well as for future planning of schools/hospitals etc. In terms of receiving aid, it is actually in Bhutan's interest to inflate the figure, so certainly this lower figure can be considered accurate. Based on this info, I have deleted the 2.5 million figure (I think only the CIA is still quoting this). I hope that is acceptable. (WT-en) WindHorse 22:27, 27 December 2006 (EST)
Tour operators
editI've noticed that http://72.18.135.200/dotbhutan/tour_operator.asp isn't accessible today. Not sure if that's temporary or not. (WT-en) David-journeys.travel 16:33, 7 November 2007 (EST)
I am a tour operator in Bhutan (www.tours.com.bt), and all of the approved government operators are on the Tourism Council of Bhutan government website. I have added a link inside the "Get In" section to the appropriate link: http://www.tourism.gov.bt/bhutan/tour-operators. --(WT-en) Rinchen2t 20:51, 1 January 2011 (EST)
Lists of packed URLs
editFrom a standpoint of Wikivoyage style, this article is a mess of lists of packed URLs. I'm too tired to deal with this right now, but if someone wants to do a useful editing job, that's an obvious one. All the best, (WT-en) Ikan Kekek 05:34, 13 June 2012 (EDT)
- Web site has change to www.bhutan.travel, would be a good time to reduce the links as they are broken. --Traveler100 (talk) 17:11, 24 February 2019 (UTC)
Alternative banner for this article?
editIn the Hebrew Wikivoyage we are currently using this banner instead of the one which is currently used here. Do you think too that this banner would would better than the existing one? ויקיג'אנקי (talk) 03:38, 5 April 2014 (UTC)
- I find it very hard to pick between these banners. Both are very good, but they're so different from each other. Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:35, 5 April 2014 (UTC)
- Both good. I somewhat prefer the second because it more directly gives a feel of mountains & Buddhism. Pashley (talk) 01:24, 6 April 2014 (UTC)
- I like the new one. • • • Peter (Southwood) (talk): 19:41, 6 April 2014 (UTC)
- When I think Bhutan, I immediately think of the second/lower image. I wouldn't mind an 'artistic' shot, but of these images, I prefer the lower one. ChubbyWimbus (talk) 14:06, 7 April 2014 (UTC)
Vajrayana
edit"Bhutan is the only Vajrayana Buddhist nation in the world" - what about Mongolia? 15.195.185.78 08:17, 30 March 2017 (UTC)
- Is there an official religion in Mongolia? I'm just guessing perhaps that's what the text means. But please edit or remove it as appropriate. Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:34, 30 March 2017 (UTC)
