Bologna la rossa, la grassa, la dotta edit

Sorry, I am not going to edit this since I'm a bit in a hurry and I should be looking at the indentation and that stuff... but!! I wanted to have you noticing that Bologna is not only named 'la rossa'. It's named 'la rossa, la grassa, la dotta' 'la rossa'(the red one): for its red and orange walls but also for its long-lasting tradition to vote the left wing.. 'la grassa'(the fat one): for its cuisine 'la dotta'(this is not the exact traduction but we could say the wise one): for its university, one of the oldest in the world, very big and very famous, at least in Italy. Sometimes it is also named 'la gaudente', that means.. mmh.. the 'enjoying itself' one, for it is believed that in Bologna people live well and enjoy themselves with all life's pleasure: going out, eating well and so on.. Hope I helped even if I did not edit! Please someone add this for me! (you can trust what i say since i live here in Bologna =)) )

Michel notes edit

Michel notes, at 10:55, 12 March 2009:

I'm puzzled how 55 euro for a double is a "budget" hotel (Fiera --- so middle of nowhere) but 50 euro for a double is "midprice" hotel (Imperial). Fiera = business district and next to motorway entrance = quick getaway for salesmen.

Also not having the Osteria dei Poeti in the eating section is a strange omission. It's in a cellar so tourists miss it? It's an antica osteria that's very famous, beautiful interior, very good classical staff and at the moment a young creative chef (who has to cook traditionally there, but does fantastic things in their catering, mostly marriages).

Great observation. I ate at Osteria de' Poeti two days ago, and added an Eat listing for them just now. JimDeLaHunt (talk) 01:49, 18 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Food & Drinks edit

Food: We should divide restaurants in three price based categories.

Price-based categories is a fine idea, but we don't have price information in enough listings yet to make it practical. Instead, I have divided them by geographic area. This has the helpful side-effect that ranges of numbers indicate similar areas, e.g. 1-12 are all in the central area near Piazza Maggiore. JimDeLaHunt (talk) 01:44, 18 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Drinks: Let's give some more advices. —The preceding comment was added by FilippoCarnevali (talkcontribs)

We have new ideas for the page banner. All of them look much better than the current version. Please, comment. --Alexander (talk) 13:18, 6 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Sort order edit

I propose the following sort order for Eat listings, which could be adapted for other listings: 1. Disregard generic prefix words like "Trattoria", "Ristorante", "L'antiche Pizzeria"; 2. Disregard prepositions like "di" or "a"; 3. Sort in alphabetical order by the remaining, distinctive words. Use judgement to bend these rules where a name demands it, such as sorting "La Sorbetteria Castiglione" as "Sorbetteria", not as "Castiglione". I have implemented this sort order under "Eat", where there are over 30 listings, subdivided into geographic areas. JimDeLaHunt (talk) 01:28, 18 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

That makes sense to me. Thanks for your amazing updates. Makes me want to go to Bologna just to eat. Ground Zero (talk) 10:15, 18 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Province edit

Bologna Province was abolished in 2015 and it all became part of the metropolitan area. I therefore intend to redirect the hollow Province page to the city. Grahamsands (talk) 13:28, 12 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Done - I retained the WV banner Bologna province Lago di Suviana.jpg here in case it has another use.
In 2016 it was agreed to remove all the provinces of Emilia-Romagna, but nothing happened. And a glance around Italy shows many similar hollow provinces elsewhere. I'll put in a shout on the relevant discussion pages. Grahamsands (talk) 12:47, 14 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Promote to Guide status? edit

What does this article need to pass Guide status? /Yvwv (talk) 12:23, 7 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Not yet. Sleep only has one listing with coords. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 12:31, 7 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
