would be good if someone who knew the city checked the entries. On a quick look on google maps the addresses of some of the entries do not match. --Traveler100 (talk) 11:09, 1 May 2015 (UTC) Moved following from article due to lack of (cannot find in google or yahoo, or contradictory (name and address do not match) information from other internet sources. --Traveler100 (talk) 08:18, 2 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

First city to pop up when one thinks about Ruhr?

edit

It says in the first line of "understand"

Now I may not be "people", but I (and there are a bunch of people who get Ruhr and NRW confused) tend to think of Mühlheim Ruhr (because of the name), Essen Duisburg or the likes before I think of Dortmund. Now if you say "Think of a soccer team that might sometimes on a good day challenge Bayern and has done so in the 1990s", yes, I would think of Dortmund. But the first city that comes to mind when people mention Ruhr? Nah. Hobbitschuster (talk) 20:25, 19 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Well im also not be "people" but I studied at Michigan State and Nijmegen University and the "most famous" city in the region is Dortmund. A lot of people in the Netherlands like FC Schalke but nobody known the city of Gelsenkirchen. After Cologne and Düsseldorf in the Rhine Region are Oberhausen and Dortmund the main shopping hotspots for Dutchies. Maybe this will succeed on the link with the football club but no one speaks of Essen, Duisburg and Mülheim.

People know that Duisburg, Essen and Mühlheim are in the Ruhr area. And Dusiburg for one has the biggest inland port in Europe. Essen is where the Krupp empire (the coal & steel thing in the Ruhr area) got started and Mühlheim has Ruhr right in the name, so everybody who knows the full name knows it's not just in NRW but in the Ruhr area. Add a City Quarters section?

edit

Is it possible to add a new City Quarters Section with a short information like for example in the Cologne Thread? DortmunderWestfront (talk) 15:00, 28 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Sure. In cases like this one where separate articles for each district won't be created, we usually organize such content into an "Orientation" subheading, under "Understand". (See Caldas da Rainha for an example.) -- AndreCarrotflower (talk) 00:10, 30 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
