Divide between Literary travel and film tourism? edit

The entries are rather few, and they double with Literary travel and Film tourism. Is the article needed? /Yvwv (talk) 23:03, 28 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

As of now I would say: No. Unless series can't be mentioned in film tourism Hobbitschuster (talk) 23:31, 28 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
The first paragraph of film tourism mentions TV series. /Yvwv (talk) 23:41, 28 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
Page now moved to film and TV series tourism, and mentions The Wire Tour and Breaking Bad Tour. /Yvwv (talk) 23:54, 28 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hogwarts edit

I think a disambiguation page for Hogwarts would be good, but I am not sure of WikiVoyage's policy on this. Hogwarts is perhaps one of the top fictional travel destinations in the world, due to the popularity of the Harry Potter series. Real-life locations corresponding to Hogwarts are:

  • Alnwick Castle, Alnwick, England - filming location of Hogwarts Castle
  • Dufftown, Scotland - nearest real-life (muggle) town to the fictional location of Hogwarts (mentioned in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban)
  • The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Universal Orlando, Orlando, Florida - real-life recreation of Hogwarts

Just explain that in the article. I absolutely would not countenance disambigs for fictional places in a travel guide, nor do I think anyone else should. Ikan Kekek (talk) 04:41, 24 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

proposed merge edit

Per a few discussions on other talkpages, I think it may be helpful (for now) to merge the articles "Game of Thrones tourism" and "X-Files tourism" into this article, and then reorganize the contents of this article according to subheadings for real-life locations pertaining to each fictional world, e.g Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Star Wars, The X-Files, The Lord of the Rings, Stargate, etc. Each subheading can then be split off into its own article once it gets large enough. Any comments or objections to such a merge? Nicole Sharp (talk) 04:55, 24 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Return to "Science-fiction and fantasy tourism" page.
