Removed from Work

"Southampton has suffered with the high number of foren migrents moving to the city (the highest resently being polish imigrants with 20,000 living in Southampton and counting), this has made unemployment rise in Southampton by 20% last year. This means that "easy" low-paid jobs can be hard to find. Nevertheless, Jobs in Southampton are still availiable, offering a lot of variety in Jobs."

Not sure if this is really relevant to a travel website, and as a student in the city have not really felt an affect on employment. Can be reinstated if it is felt really relvant to visitors but perhaps with a less negative tone! 83.71.171.121 08:19, 2 August 2007 (EDT)

College status edit

Solent College is only an institute, I don't think they give out degrees

I think they've gone up in the world, and definitely have university status. Please check their website. (WT-en) Jnich99 09:43, 4 July 2008 (EDT)

Solent College? Degrees? - They're handing them out to anyone these days!

Suggested new alternative banner

I created a new alternative banner for this article (I initially created it first and foremost so that it would be used at the top of the parallel article in the Hebrew edition of Wikivoyage, yet I later decided to also suggest that the English Wikivoyage community would consider using it here as well). So, which banner do you prefer having at the top of this article? ויקיג'אנקי (talk) 12:42, 11 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

A bit better, as it shows Southampton as a tourist destination more than just a port. I am quite sure there are nicer shots possible of the city - both are quite dull. PrinceGloria (talk) 14:02, 11 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
Yes slightly better and a little more up to date. A picture of around the Bargate or part of the old wall would be better, maybe maybe a view from Bitterne but I know from experience getting a good picture of Southampton is a challenge. --Traveler100 (talk) 15:49, 11 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
The new banner is a bit more interesting than the current one. Ikan Kekek (talk) 16:56, 11 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
The new banner has better colours. Support. Danapit (talk) 18:59, 11 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
I created the present banner - I only visited Southampton a long time ago to use the port. I think that the new one is a batter picture. AlasdairW (talk) 19:58, 11 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
