Talk:Tokyo/Shinjuku
Should this page be rewritten to be more like Chiyoda, with separate sections for the major areas of the city (Shinjuku station area, Waseda/Takadanobaba, Shin-Okubo/Okubo, Ichigaya/Yotsuya, Kagurazaka, etc.)? It's currently heavily biased towards Shinjuku station, which makes including info on other areas a bit of a pain.61.118.147.157 02:45, 5 August 2009 (EDT)
- I don't think so. It's not that long right now, and splitting into too many sections makes it confusing (I personally think the Chiyoda-area articles are too messy already). New listings in other areas of Shinjuku are always appreciated. - (WT-en) Dguillaime 17:08, 5 August 2009 (EDT)
- Chiyoda's current sections are not separated into major areas. While the Imperial Palace Gardens could be considered an area, "Shrines and churches" and "Other" are not areas. If there are areas that can be designated, I think they do make articles more organized, but Chiyoda is not a good example of that. (WT-en) ChubbyWimbus 20:09, 5 August 2009 (EDT)
- Sorry, I meant more like Tokyo/Minato, with separate sections (pages) for each major center within the ward. At any rate I'll try to keep expanding it. -61.118.147.157 00:45, 6 August 2009 (EDT)
Where are all the GLBT listings?
editFor talking about how Ni-chome is the main gay district of Tokyo, there are no such listings under the Drink section. Did they get deleted, or just forgotten? --(WT-en) BigPeteB 15:01, 6 December 2011 (EST)
- Indeed, an article on Shinjuku is not complete without this information. Anoby just jump in and add relevant listings, thanks! Syced (talk) 06:59, 7 August 2015 (UTC)
Oak House listing
editI'm moving this listing here for discussion:
- OakHouse, 〒150-0002 Tokyo Shibuya-ku Shibuya 3-15-4 Monostep 3F, ☏ 81-3-6427-3777, info@oakhouse.jp. The largest selection of guesthouses in Tokyo. Over 2700 rooms in about 160 houses, in many diverse areas of Tokyo. Also Japanese apartments for rent with low initial costs and easy-to-understand fees: no key money, guarantor, or other fees usually incurred when looking for an apartment in Tokyo. You can stay for as short as 1 month and it's possible to share it with a friend. What's more they have English staff and even a French one.
If we list this, since its headquarters are in Shibuya, it presumably should be listed in Tokyo/Shibuya. But what's the policy on listing apartment listing sites? I don't think we list sites like AirBnB or HomeAway in articles for cities, do we? But I think the governing policy is actually laid out in Wikivoyage:Apt, as follows:
Wikivoyage is neither an apartment-finder service nor a real estate listing service, so in general real estate and rental agency listings are not allowed. The only exception to this rule is for locations where rental properties are a common form of travel accommodation and the following requirements are met:
- Consensus must be achieved on the article's talk page that rental listings should be allowed. When trying to build consensus provide some evidence that rental properties are commonly used by travelers to the destination and that their addition will improve the article. Please do not argue the merits of any particular company, but instead focus on the value of such accommodation for travelers to the destination city/region.
- If consensus is achieved, rental agency listings must be placed into a separate sub-section of the article's "Sleep" section.
- Agency listings must include a local address with a phone number that specifies the physical address at the destination for picking up the keys, managing the property and/or resolving rental issues. This address must also be prominently displayed on the agency web site.
- Apartments or cabins must be available for rentals of one week or less - remember, Wikivoyage is a travel guide, not an apartment-finder service.
So, is it common for travelers to rent an apartment in Tokyo while they visit for a week or less? Please comment on this. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:56, 19 April 2016 (UTC)
New banner
editIn my opinion, the banner does not make justice to the district, and is also used for another article. Please consider the new banners. /Yvwv (talk) 01:43, 11 October 2021 (UTC)

- Ditto, except that I prefer 1, but if 1 is used for another article, 2 would be fine. Ikan Kekek (talk) 02:03, 11 October 2021 (UTC)
- See Talk:Japan for banner contests. Motifs with crowds of homogenously looking people are an overused stereotype for East Asia. We should find other themes. /Yvwv (talk) 14:19, 11 October 2021 (UTC)
