Outside Europe

edit

I know that there was fighting in Africa until the very end (the story of Paul von Lettow Vorbeck or how you spell him is really fascinating) and there was some fighting in Asia and even the oceans of the world, although that was over by late 1914 (with decisive German defeats on all fronts). Is there still something interesting one could visit in those places? Hobbitschuster (talk) 14:32, 24 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

The war in Italy/Austria

edit

It's been a while since I've seen it, but I am quite sure that I recall a documentary on the war in the Austrian-Italian border regions and they mostly dealt with the mining and tunneling as well as counter-mining and counter tunneling. IIRC it all culminated in mountains being literally blown up (a bit like mountaintop removal mining). Hence why I (for I presume it was I who did) put in this formulation way back when... However, I will have to do some reading on that now, I s'pose... Hobbitschuster (talk) 22:44, 15 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Another thing that might be of interest (as a possible itinerary) is this Hobbitschuster (talk) 23:08, 15 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

There was also lots of tunneling under the trenches in France & Belgium. My Canadian grandfather was a tunneler there. Pashley (talk) 18:01, 22 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Can we make this a feature travel topic for the centennial next year? In that case, we have a few months before it is about time to nominate. /Yvwv (talk) 23:46, 21 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Good idea, though the article does needs a great deal of work before it's a guide. ϒpsilon (talk) 19:48, 23 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
