Comments edit

Hello Jezhotwells! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page.

If you are a Wikipedian then you may notice some differences in policies and the style of our articles. These include:

If you need help, check out Project:Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. Thanks for contributing!

Linking Bristol to other language versions of Wikipedia does not make a lot of sense here. Our interlanguage links link to other language versions of Wikivoyage! Please check your interlanguage links work and go to the right place before adding links from Wikipedia. Also note that you cannot copy text from Wikipedia because the GFDL and CCbySA copyright licences are incompatable. - (WT-en) Huttite 08:18, 30 January 2009 (EST)

Talk page etiquette edit

Please use the talk pages to discuss the content of articles. These discussions should be a permanent record of how an aricle came to be how it is. Just because my edit to Bristol was reverted by you does not mean you can erase my discussion about the edit too. That makes it appear that you are wanting to erase evidence of your activities that have been observed and challenged by someone else. Actually, I fully expected my edit to be reverted, that is why I left the comment on the talk page. I anticipated you would post the note that you posted on my talk page on the Bristol talk page instead. It is there now.

Please understand I was trying to get a consensus about a decision to change the text of an article that you had made, but had not discussed or announced clearly, and was not supported by the policy and guidelines. One of the most important rules for business owners is "never remove info on competitors". Never, without exception.

I don't know who you are, or who you might be associated with, apart from your claims on (WT-en) your user page, but that's OK. What concerns me is if you behave as if you are being anti-competitive then I will challenge you to justify yourself. I am not saying you are wrong. I am just asking you to expain what you are doing and why, so that your activities are seen as above board and open. By all means remove listings that are inappropriate, but when you do it please, please, please be open that you are doing it by explaining your actions.

Now, those listings that you more recently removed clearly do not comply with our external links policy - thanks for pointing out that they were a site aggregator. Also, if you find a listing that is misplaced, consider poping it into the correct destination, if it is not there already. We would rather keep a single listing, but in its right place, than lose it all together. - (WT-en) Huttite 22:51, 30 January 2009 (EST)
