Hello! Welcome to Wikivoyage. Thanks for your work on Malta-- it's on my list of places to visit (actually I've always wanted to live there for a few weeks/months). You might want to take a sec to look at our Manual of style, especially the article templates and Project:Restaurant listings to get a good idea of how we like articles formatted. If you need help, check out Project:Help, and if you need some info not on there, post a message in the travellers' pub. -- (WT-en) Majnoona 10:33, 25 Jan 2006 (EST)

Hi Peter - I posted a reply to your question on my Comino map (on my user talk page). Not sure if you got it, so here is a reminder! Rgds, Stuart [ (WT-en) StuartEdwards 08:11, 16 Feb 2006 (EST) ]

Some research guidelines edit

Peter: I understand your need to process the information about Wikivoyage, World66, and Internet Brands. I have a couple of reading suggestions if you're interested.

First, our original announcement of Project:20 April 2006 is our initial note to the community on the subject. Well, not entirely: I also have IRC logs from our discussions earlier in that week with admins and longtime users.

There is a further discussion on Project:Internet Brands and some questions and andwers on Project:Internet Brands. Maj and I got into some discussions about our motivations and processes in the Project:Travellers' pub; see here for particulars, starting with "Do you mean, ...".

If you don't want to share knowledge with other travellers if someone could profit financially, then Wikivoyage is not the project for you. Commercial use and re-use of Wikivoyage content have been part of our Project:Copyleft since the start. It's also a major part of Open Source and Free Software culture. People have been making mirrors of Wikivoyage, with advertisements, for a very long time. And, of course, travel-related companies (like tour guides, restaurants, and hotels) benefit from their exposure in our guides. If one company contributes money to the maintenance and growth of Wikivoyage, well, I see that as a good thing, not a bad thing.

As to why we didn't start a new business ourselves: I appreciate your vote of confidence, but I don't think getting into a new Web business is very easy. I'd rather concentrate on what I like doing best: using technology and discussion to help people do their best work here.

If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask me directly; you can get contact information from (WT-en) my user page. --(WT-en) Evan 16:21, 27 June 2006 (EDT)
