Cebu Pacific

edit

Hi. You made 2 changes to Bacalod. Why did you delete Cebu Pacific when you inserted Philippine Airlines?(WT-en) Shep 14:37, 6 January 2010 (EST)

(Replied to User:(WT-en) Roundtheworld's talk page.)

Bacollywood Poster Image

edit

Do you really own the rights to that poster image and release it into the public domain? Please confirm. Cheers. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 10:50, 12 January 2010 (EST)

Ah, yes, unfortunately under U.S. law, "all rights reserved" is assumed unless there is explicit notice that it is otherwise—public display is totally different from public domain, where the author has explicitly revoked all rights of ownership to the image. If you could go through your images on Shared that you a) don't own the rights for and b) are not explicitly licensed by their creator for our type of use, and mark them with a vfd tag ({{vfd}}). That way we'll know which ones need to be deleted. Thanks! --(WT-en) Peter Talk 12:26, 12 January 2010 (EST)

Bacolod

edit

Great work all round on the Philippines. I was thinking of helping out with some editing of Bacolod but ran into problems with your history. It seems to be different from all the other versions on the web (which, incidentally, all seem to be copied from one source so may all be wrong!). The other versions have people moving to the coast after being attacked in 1787 but your version (which sounds more sensible to me) has them moving up to the stoney hilly area after being attacked. Could you try to clarify as it is a bit confusing at present? (WT-en) Shep 02:05, 23 January 2010 (EST)

I think you can now safely put Bacolod up to guide - very well done. Just edit the status tag at the bottom. Just one request - please avoid using html commands, even simple line breaks. They are not necessary. Would be good if you removed from Bacolod. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 10:17, 31 January 2010 (EST)
I would also suggest taking the image out of the get out section. This section should just be a short bulleted list of suggestions of where to go next. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 11:02, 31 January 2010 (EST)
edit

Just a quickie. When you place a link, please insert a space between it and the word and do not embolden the link. Eg this: LRT [1] and not this: LRT[2]. A lot of the latter have appeared at Philippines and it is ugly! Cheers. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 20:42, 26 January 2010 (EST)

Puerto Galera

edit

Hi again. Thanks for moving my Banaue photo to the top of the Philippines page :). If you need a new challenge, lots of work needs to be done on Puerto Galera: it has lots of content but needs organizing. (WT-en) Shep 03:10, 31 January 2010 (EST)

A minor style note

edit

Only the first character of a section should be capitalised. Eg Resorts and spas and not Resorts and Spas; By train and not By Train. Not a big thing but obviously one to get right first time if we can. Cheers.--(WT-en) Burmesedays 07:49, 2 February 2010 (EST)

edit

I think you may have uploaded a copyrighted image again Image:SMGreenFilmFestival.jpg? I would be very surprised if this is a free image that conforms with Wikivoyage's copyleft. Please could you let us know the source url of this image. Many thanks. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 02:57, 8 February 2010 (EST)

I would be really grateful if you could answer this. Thanks. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 06:05, 9 February 2010 (EST)
[3], there would be like a flashplayer thing that would be playing on the screen, click on number 4. I don't know if it's copyrighted or not, I've seen it posted on other sites too. Feel free to delete it if you want to. BTW Sorry for not replying I didn't notice you posted a note on my talk page. -(WT-en) SnappyHip 15:34, 9 February 2010 (GST)
[4], I don't know if this is the mall's official blogsite however site indicates it's their official blogsite. -(WT-en) SnappyHip 15:38, 9 February 2010 (GST)

Maps

edit

Great to see that you have produced some maps! Well done. If you are interested (only if), there is a detailed article on how to draw a WT style map, and a lot more discussion and advice in the region maps expedition article and its talk page. If you feel like making more maps in future, you will definitely find these pages of assistance. Cheers and once again, well done. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 03:07, 8 February 2010 (EST)

Saipan

edit

Thanks for that. I have merged both into one article, Dive sites of Saipan and alerted our Scuba Diving star to have a look and maybe take all the content into Scuba Diving. Cheers. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 10:16, 10 February 2010 (EST)

If a website owner specifically consents for the content of his site to be licensed as per Wikivoyage copyleft, then it can be used here. This is rare but it does happen, and seems to be the case with Ibajay. Thanks very much for pointing this out though. Cheers. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 04:21, 12 February 2010 (EST)

Province

edit

You should ue the region template for a province article. Important to make sure the province fits in with the existing regional structure, unless you are proposing a new structure, in which cae it should be discussed first. Which province is it and to which region will it be assigned? I can give you a hand to figure that out if you want. Cheers. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 03:12, 15 February 2010 (EST)

Well done :). I think it is usable and have stuck that tag in. It was also missing a breadcrumb trail, so I inserted IsPartOf Eastern Cape. Cheers.--(WT-en) Burmesedays 06:54, 23 February 2010 (EST)

Tamil Nadu

edit

Hi, SnappyHip. Why did you remove the regionlist template from Tamil Nadu? (WT-en) LtPowers 08:54, 24 February 2010 (EST)

Maps

edit

To answer your question, Inkscape is the tool. Inkscape has its problems but if you want to produce maps with a free tool which are compatible with what others do here, then it is the best available. Two key articles for you to read:

  • Project:How_to_draw_a_map takes you through the whole process of creating a city or district map with Inkscape. I wrote most of that article and tried to keep it as simple as possible. If you can get to grips with this, then producing country and region maps should be relatively straightforward.
  • Project:Regions_Map_Expedition. Here and on the corresponding talk page you will find lots of interesting stuff related to country and region maps.

I hope that is helpful. Let me know if you have any more questions.--(WT-en) Burmesedays 05:56, 4 March 2010 (EST)

Kerala

edit

Its something bad to see, you are removing useful content that benefits many travellers who love search knowledge about Kerala

Your wrong impression regarding Kerala

edit

Please note, it was a mistake from your part, that I have copied from somewhere else. I swear I made most of content my own contributions and by deleting my work, it seems you are insulting me. Can you show any single source, from where I have copied without consent?

Housekeeping

edit

Hi. Some nice housekeeping going on. Just one little hint I've picked up... If you undo a change (like the recent one on Lahore, can you mark the original edit as Patrolled so that we know the original edit no longer needs looking at. This is from the advice to my query in the Travellers' Pub. Otherwise, keep it up :) (WT-en) Nrms 14:46, 9 March 2010 (EST)

Kerala

edit

Which indications have you seen that the images are copyvios?, --(WT-en) ClausHansen 04:59, 10 March 2010 (EST)

I have not done a full run at Tineye yet, but this Kerala pic is lifted from LonelyPlanet: http://www.lonelyplanet.com/travelblogs/299/10227/Kerala+Suggested+Itineraries+%E2%80%93+2+weeks?destId=356336 . Will look at others later. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 05:43, 10 March 2010 (EST)
Ok, I will leave to you to vfd, --(WT-en) ClausHansen 06:54, 10 March 2010 (EST)\

Ur information is wrong, dear Snappyhip. The picture is taken from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Munnar_hillstation_kerala.jpg and is a Wikicommons picture, licensed to use in Wikivoyage. Moreover its owner Bimal V.C has given permission to me for my works and I have used this in my blog and now here. Kindly withdraw your allegations- ARUNVARMAOTHER

User:(WT-en) Arunvarmaother, can we please stop all this talk of allegations and the withdrawal thereof? You said that on my talk page as well. Nobody is alleging anything. If you had marked up the images correctly in the first place with attributions and sources, then there would be no issue. Absent that compulsory information, it is only right that questions are asked. SnappyHip, myself or whoever, is quite right to do so. --(WT-en) Burmesedays 10:36, 10 March 2010 (EST)
Original source is Flickr, it seems. Licensed CC-BY 2.0 (WT-en) LtPowers 10:06, 10 March 2010 (EST)

More Housekeeping

edit

Hi again. Just a reminder to Mark as Patrolled those articles where you have edited the work of others. Saves someone else having to go in and do it. Thanks (WT-en) Shep 03:15, 13 March 2010 (EST)

User Pages

edit

I've been keeping an eye on User:(WT-en) JacobGaynor, and despite the fact that he's trolling it's generally accepted that unless a user page is hate speech, advertising, or vandalism from another user that no one else changes it. In the case of trolls, changing their pages is often the little bit of attention that they want, so it can sometimes do more harm than good. Not a huge party foul, but I wanted to call it out to avoid setting a precedent :) -- (WT-en) Ryan • (talk) • 01:30, 14 April 2010 (EDT)
