Hello, 104.243.170.223! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Wikivoyage:Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub.

By the way, have you considered creating an account here? While you can absolutely keep contributing as an anonymous user, it promises a bunch of benefits, and no obligations.

About your creation of a Natchitoches Parish article: You may well be absolutely right to create the article, but changes in the regional breadcrumb structure of this guide should be discussed and approved by a consensus before they are done. I wouldn't suggest for you to revert all your edits, but I would strongly suggest that you explain your reasoning at Talk:Central (Louisiana), the discussion page for the parent region of Nachitoches Parish. And when you explain your reasoning, do please note that there are a lot of cases in which counties or parishes do not get their own article, because unlike Wikipedia, Wikivoyage is not an encyclopedia, and its regional structure is designed for the benefit of travelers, regardless of the official regional hierarchy.

The following parishes have no article and no redirect:

Acadia Parish, Allen Parish, Ascension Parish, Assumption Parish, Avoyelles Parish, Beauregard Parish, Bienville Parish, Bossier Parish, Caddo Parish, Calcasieu Parish...OK, I'm stopping here. I did notice that Plaquemines Parish does have an article, but it sure isn't automatic for a parish to get its own article. I think you may have a good argument for this one, but I think everyone would like to see it.

All the best,

Natchez edit

Hi, please note if you wish to rename a page use the Move option under the More tab, not copy and past as this removes the edit history. --Traveler100 (talk) 07:11, 31 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

SO I have fixed the move so the page still has its history. Could you however please finish the work that is required when you move a page. Go to the page Natchez (Mississippi), on the left hand side under Tools is "What links here". Please correct all the pages that reference Natchez. I would also suggest you log on with a user name (maybe one you already have) rather than using IP address. --Traveler100 (talk) 07:17, 31 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Natchitoches Parish and its settlements edit

I realise you are just starting on articles for this area, but please remember this is a travel site not an encyclopaedia. Content, such as things to see, places to eat and places to stay overnight is more important that create a list and structure of places. For example the article Natchitoches, although listing sleep and eat places does not have a link to them or always have an address. Would be good to have someone with local knowledge like yourself to improve this article. --Traveler100 (talk) 07:22, 31 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

When not to use disambiguation or the name of the town edit

Hi. I realize we're giving you a lot of information quickly, but there is some learning curve involved in getting to know this site's style and how it differs from Wikipedia's. But that said: Please check on whether there is another place with the same name before adding "(Louisiana)" to the name of your article. In the case of Clarence, there's a larger town which is in New York State, so the disambiguation in Clarence (Louisiana) is necessary. In most other cases, it is not, and therefore - unlike in Wikipedia - not used.

As for when not to use the name of the town at all, that would be in addresses in listings. When the establishment ("See", "Do", "Buy", etc.) is in the town of the same name as the one the article is about, just give the street address; do not include the name of the town, the state and the zip code. Addresses are given on this site for the purpose of enabling travelers to physically find them and show up, not to send a snail mail.

Please let us know if you have any questions, and letting us know you've read any of this would also be very helpful. Thanks a lot,

Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:00, 31 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

By the way, it looks like you're now doing exactly the right thing on the disambiguations, as far as I can see! Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:08, 31 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Please stop creating articles for tiny places edit

That is, tiny places that have nothing of much interest to a visitor: See Wikivoyage:What is an article? You need to please talk to us, so we can have a conversation. Your efforts are much appreciated but can't be all unilateral. Thanks a lot. Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:25, 31 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Your edits to the Fairview Alpha redirect page have been reverted. Explain on Talk:Fairview Alpha why you want to recreate an article that others believe is not appropriate for this guide. Thanks. Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:28, 31 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

This is the discussion page for an anonymous user who has not created an account yet, or who does not use it. We therefore have to use the numerical IP address to identify them. Such an IP address can be shared by several users. If you are an anonymous user and feel that irrelevant comments have been directed at you, please create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other anonymous users.
