Hello, ALIwaince! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here.

Your enthusiasm for adding new content and banners to articles on Pakistan is great to see, but unfortunately I've add to undo a lot of your edits because the banners you added are too big. It's not as easy as just adding a nice picture to the {{pagebanner}} template; the image you choose must have a 7:1 width to height ratio. Please see Wikivoyage:Banners for more guidance on how to make banners that suit our policy. I'm sorry that this is how we have met, because I think your intentions are sound and you could be a valuable contributor to Wikivoyage. A quick read of some of our policies wouldn't go amiss, however. Thanks for taking the time to read, and happy editing. Best wishes, ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 14:57, 20 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Image captions edit

Hello, ALIwaince. You are perfectly entitled to remove comments on your talk page, as you have done with Ikan Kekek's comments, but it's not a polite thing to do when someone is trying to advise you how to contribute to Wikivoyage in the best way possible.

As it happens, I agree with both of his pointers, not least about picture captions. A couple of hours ago, you were still adding images with captions like "Rohtas fort 8" and "Islamabad-Arrival-40105.JPG" to Rawalpindi. I will repeat the deleted comments' message that such captions are not helpful to travellers who will be reading the articles you're contributing to. Instead, try writing a short caption (just a sentence) that tells the traveller a bit about what they're seeing. Or if you prefer, just change the above examples to something like "Rohtas Fort" or "Islamabad Airport arrivals hall".

Like I said before, you're doing a good job here and adding value to multiple articles with beautiful pictures and good quality information. Thank you for your hard work! But please do take advice on board when it's offered; your work will only be the better for it. Best wishes, --ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 11:12, 22 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Stay safe edit

Hi. Just to let you know, Wikivoyage:Article templates do not have an "In Case of Emergency" subheading, but they can and often do have a "Stay safe" section, which fits the content you're inserting. That said, it looks like the emergency numbers are the same nationwide in Pakistan, and if that's the case, they should be only in Pakistan#Stay safe and shouldn't be repeated in every article. Is it true that the same emergency numbers are used throughout Pakistan? Please answer and give me a chance to see the answer before you delete this thread. ISI edit

I've read reports that the ISI was in the past closely connected to the Taliban and other Islamist forces in Afghanistan and also with Al Qaeda and radical organizations fighting against India in Kashmir and in bombings in Mumbai, Delhi, et al. You feel sure that they've had no role in influencing Pakistan's foreign policy? Tell me more. Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:44, 24 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Progaganda of Raw and other Agencies edit

Its baseless propaganda againt ISI. ALIwaince (talk) 08:03, 24 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

That's your complete answer? Can you address any of the specifics - ISI stands accused of very close ties with the Taliban and various other armed organizations in Afghanistan at various times, Al Qaeda, Lashkar-e-Taiba and various other organizations operating in foreign countries. Is it your claim that they are entirely under civilian control at all times and have no influence on the government ever?
I'm wondering if you find w:Lashkar-e-Taiba "baseless propaganda". If you do, noting that Wikipedia requires adherence to a standard of "neutral point of view" and Wikivoyage requires only for articles to be fair, I think you can tell what the next step is. • Dear Sir, If ISI and other Pakistani agencies are involved in such relationships then Pakistan not facing terrorism/War against TTP and other taliban groups.
  • What's your arguments about this?

On 24 September 2017, Hindustan Times which is the most popular daily newspaper in India confessed that RAW has ties with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.

Come on now, India having a relationship with the Pakistani Taliban, while a terrible thing, is no evidence against evidence in sources like the Wikipedia article I linked. That isn't about Pakistani foreign policy; it's about Indian foreign policy. Besides, this really isn't the place for political arguments: As I pointed out, the Wikivoyage standard is simply Be fair. The fact that Wikipedia articles substantiate the ISI's role in supporting militias that fight in bordering countries (India and Afghanistan) is quite sufficient to sustain that standard. Do you have any other argument before your edit is reverted? I would suggest that if you have strong evidence that the ISI has always been subordinate to civilian leadership in Pakistan and never either forced the civilian leadership to do its bidding or acted contrary to demands from the civilian leadership, that might be a sustainable argument. But that would mean conceding that civilian leadership has always supported ISI actions in arming, training and providing other support to the armed groups it is well-known to have supported.
