Hello, welcome to Wikivoyage, and thanks for your helpful edits so far.

You may find it useful to look at our tips for new contributors page, which is full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page.

If you ever want any help with anything, check out Project:Help, or just post a message here or in the travellers' pub.

If you are a Wikipedian, or have previously used Wikipedia, then you may notice some differences in the style of our articles. These include:

  • "External links" → We do not use a separate external links section, but incorporate primary links only into the text itself.

Thanks again for contributing!

All the best,

Thanks! edit

for all the useful content you have been adding to our German and French articles! --W. Frankemailtalk 17:26, 10 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Dear Sir Frank, I do like Spain too, actually started editing, there (first commit, first new page). Just kidding, but my old unaccounted Ip edits from Wikitravel were mostly US based. Very much enjoying to see the new wikivoyage taking off. Anyway thank you very much for your guidance and appreciated taste.--Axisstroke (talk) 17:40, 10 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
Yes, we may fondly look back on this time in later years as the "Golden months"; après nous, le Déluge, eh? --W. Frankemailtalk 17:49, 10 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
Dear Sir, (; Take care. --Axisstroke (talk) 17:58, 10 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Vienna edit

Hi, thanks for all your input on Vienna! I usually work on articles where I feel like the only contributer, so I'm enjoying the collaboration (and learning where some of the good vegetarian restaurants are).

Listing the viewpoints in the 'See' section is probably fine, perhaps someone else might say otherwise – I've been relying on this article as a guide on where to place things. Also I just decided to break up the 'See' list because I thought it was getting a little unwieldy. It's a great idea to have lists of viewpoints in articles – I shall have to visit the Jubiläumswarte next time I visit Vienna :)

Hello StellarD
I had overseen the move first, I had thought that the entry went missing. According to this canonical list a tour needs to go to the Do section. I do fully agree. Please move it or I can do it. Ah so Donauturm also needs to move from `See' to `Do'. On second thought, I confused the tour (french tower) with the word tower, but as all the named viewpoints invovle some physical interaction, I am very happy for them to move. (Not sure anymore about the Donauturm).
Thank you very much for your work on Vienna! First I only rarely edited it, as I was afraid on how much there is missing and it's poor overall state/split. I do very much appreciate the systematic way of your input and the very visual appealing photos you choose. (: I do think that the Outer West, is already tending towards guide status modulo a Learn section with the Bodenkultur university + a connect content and some better get around information ;).
Could you comment on Talk:Vienna#Readjust_district_split. I do really think that Meidling (12) must move to outer south and doesn't belong to inner south distinction part (But I have zero idea how to redraw that map).
Best, --Axisstroke (talk) 12:49, 29 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
I think the Donauturm should probably be in 'See', and the viewpoints seem to fit well in 'Do', although one could make the argument that since it's possible to drive to the viewing area of Kahlenberg, it could also fit in 'See'… but that's probably splitting hairs, and it would be a shame to break up the list of viewpoints.
Yes, Vienna is a bit of a mess and it scared me off earlier, but with at least two spoons (maybe more will turn up!) to eat the elephant I'm confident we'll eventually get it worked out :) StellarD (talk) 20:22, 29 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your input! I'll add more things with time, happy that you get to see new stuff in Vienna. (: Also beeing vegan or vegetarian used to be much harder. Good collab. --Axisstroke (talk) 21:30, 29 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
Hi, great work on Vienna. I think it's also OK to remove the Connect section depending on whether you feel it's necessary or not. -- torty3 (talk) 01:49, 19 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

A barncompass for you! edit

  The Wikivoyage Barncompass
Your contributions to our Vienna articles are quite impressive; for the last week or so I've almost always spotted your edits among the Recent changes. Vienna is of the most beautiful cities I've visited and it certainly deserves a comprehensive article! ϒpsilon (talk) 19:26, 9 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
Well deserved. Thanks for your valued contributions and keep it up! --Saqib (talk) 19:36, 9 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
Hey cool, thank you! (: Vienna is a great collaborative effort with StellarD. I do appreciate to put interesting stuff in. :D --Axisstroke (talk) 19:47, 9 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Eat cats? edit

Did you notice that your edit summary ended up a little hilarious? Poor kittens... ϒpsilon (talk) 15:01, 11 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello ϒpsilon, Schladming habitants and visitors eat lots of meat (and hence poor animals), but not kittens, sorry for the shortening of the word cats (meant categories aka headers), will be again more verbose on my summaries. Thanks for the hint! Happy life to wild kittens!!! --Axisstroke (talk) 15:07, 11 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, I saw what you did in the edit and understood that you meant you've edited the categories, but just one second that before I had a look at the Recent changes and thought "oh noooo..." :D ϒpsilon (talk) 15:16, 11 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

Gateaux Thoumieux edit

I reverted your entry for the above because it contained no info on why anyone would bother. Nor does its website. Your comment implying that anyone who lives in Paris would know about this place is off the mark as we do not write WV for persons who live in Paris. It is written for travellers. I've heard of Patisserie Edeline, Secca, et al., but never this place. And, if it matters, I lived on the rue de Lille for years. Thanks for your understanding. Seligne (talk) 00:51, 9 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi Seligne. I didn't appreciate the revert, sorry for the bad wording in my rerevert - point taken and understood. I do usually fill my stubs when time permits. Thanks for your contributions! --Axisstroke (talk) 11:32, 9 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
Your body of work here is most impressive. We all get reverted, whether "fairly" or "unfairly" from time to time. Not to lose sleep over it. Best, Seligne (talk) 13:38, 9 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hotels that did not yet open edit

Hey, it is good to see you adding more hotels and other useful info to the articles! I noticed, however, that you added a few hotels that are only about to open, and wanted to share with you my thoughts on that. I have found that, while exciting, this may be misleading to travellers - not only do we list properties they can't actually book immediately, but opening times are often rescheduled at the last minute, as I often learned (and guests rebooked, often over a clumsily managed process, to other properties, or worse - their bookings simply cancelled). As excited as I am about some of the upcoming hotels, and I guess I did add my own share of them, I thought I would refrain for now and wait for them to actually open. Just wanted to share those thoughts with you. PrinceGloria (talk) 04:53, 15 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello PrinceGloria, The added cases were kind of special, thought they might very well interest upcoming visitors. For usual hotels I do fully agree. --Axisstroke (talk) 05:11, 16 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

New Listings in the 15th arrondissement edit

Hello Axisstroke, thanks for your message, It is true, I do not know anything about geo location, and not much more either about Wikivoyage, Any how there is a restaurant in the Beaugrenelle center called Bermuda onion: http://bermuda-onion.fr/, It has a view over the river, but website only in french, I let you decide if it should be on the page or not. Otherwise, the part of the arrondissement by the river might be of interest for people involved in architecture of the 20th century : https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/15e_arrondissement_de_Paris#Architecture and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Front_de_Seine If you have the time ..... of course ;)--DDupard (talk) 10:40, 1 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello DDupard, just go ahead! (: Best --Axisstroke (talk) 12:17, 2 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello Axisstroke, I think, that I am finished uploading what I know about the district, so now there is geo location; is there a tutorial page, I should visit? Thank you for your help:)--DDupard (talk) 05:46, 3 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello DDupard, Most of the times wikipedia has the coordinates for the entries. Otherwise one see section "sources" in Wikivoyage:Geocoding. Best --Axisstroke (talk) 11:37, 3 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Ok, thank you Axxistroke, I will have a look at it soon.--DDupard (talk) 11:26, 4 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
