Hello, Chandan Guha! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here. Hello, and thanks for your contributions! However, one small thing: Please do not include or add any links to Wikipedia articles, except one at the very end of the article, about the same subject (e.g., w:Biharinath). See external links for current policy guidelines. Thanks a lot! Ikan Kekek (talk) 04:21, 18 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Auto patroller

edit

Hi Chandan Guha, thanks for contributions here. Just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled right to your account. I hope you'll continue to contribute constructively to Wikivoyage. Happy editing and happy travels. --Saqib (talk) 14:50, 22 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Please don't include the name of the town in addresses

edit

Hi, Chandan. As I mentioned in an edit summary, please do not do this. If an article is about Krishnanagar, the assumption is that all addresses will be in Krishnanagar. Have a look at Wikivoyage:Listings and related pages for some guidelines, please. Thanks. Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:09, 7 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Coordinates

edit

Hello Chandan, Thanks for editing. I disagree with your recent edit [1]. Why do you think coordinates are generally not required for eateries? They are in fact very useful for locating the place and mainly for marking the place in an interactive map. Not adding coordinates to a listing is one thing, but actively removing such useful info is really contraproductive. --Danapit (talk) 12:42, 17 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Chandan, thank you for reverting the edit. In fact, it seems like the coordinates were wrong, anyway, they didn't match with the address. Btw, did you know that if you click the little map icon above the page banner, you can view all listings in the article with coordinates in the map? All the best, --Danapit (talk) 13:05, 17 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Sorry for explaining the obvious :) It just wasn't clear to me why you thought coordinates of eateries should be removed, so I pointed out why I thought they were useful. Cheers, Danapit (talk) 13:31, 17 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Source of quote?

edit

Hello, Chandan Guha, and thanks as always for adding information, but you didn't cite a source for this passage in your edit summary. It's not sufficient to write "Romesh Chunder Dutt wrote in the late 19th century". As he wrote where? And did you copy and paste or paraphrase from a source that quotes him or directly from his writings? How much of the content in the 2 edits I point to was copy-pasted, and from where? I would suggest you address this directly and clearly on Talk:Bishnupur (West Bengal); otherwise, it will probably be necessary to remove this content per Wikivoyage's Copyleft policy.
