Hello, Marathonian! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. New users are also welcome to post any questions or concerns to the arrivals lounge. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here.

- By the way, sorry if I sounded irritable or rude when you first edited with an IP address (I assume that was you). Many of the new users we get are problematic, for various reasons, and in the first few edits it's hard to tell who is a constructive contributor and who isn't.
- May I say, your user contributions have been very good so far, and I hope to see you continue to make good edits. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 22:51, 26 December 2018 (UTC)
- Hey, no worries and no need for apologies. Yes, I posted those initial edits when I was in Punta Arenas but back in the states now. I went in all gung-ho because I thought some random user decided to randomly change everything- little did I know that there has been thought and extensive outreach in wikivoyage community for these changes. You've been working hard on this and have had a long discussion in the discussion page so I completely understand your reaction. I'm a long time user of wikivoyage but never made any edits and as you probably noticed not that well versed on how things work behind the scenes.. So I was pretty shocked when you reverted, that's when I ventured into the discussion page for the first time and saw the actual work that was done (i.e. wasn't some random user) and realized then I've made a mistake. - Thanks for such a polite and considerate response. Honestly, I probably should have paid more attention to tourist destinations, regions, and routes when I did the organization — I was looking more at the geography. You probably don't yet know about this, but it's a good example of where my Antarctica edits were not written on the foundation of on-the-ground knowledge that they should have been. --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 00:40, 27 December 2018 (UTC)
- It's all good, we both have the same goal of providing the best content for travelers and you're right, when you look at the Antarctica article from a geographic point of view, the divisions do not make sense. I think the original contributor did a good job because he catered it to tourists with the ultimate "so, how do I get to Antarctica?" question and then the break down makes sense. This kind of logic might not work well for NYC, UK, Spain, etc... This Antarctica article is tough because things change in Antarctica much more quickly and the information is not readily available online. I don't have a lonely planet guide book but I bet a lot of that stuff is outdated for Antarctica. By the way, impressive number of edits and you've done a great job on this site, as a heavily reliant user on wikivoyage, thank you.
- I believe the original guy who organized it went by the name "Ryan", and he often goes traveling to Antarctica and other, similar destinations. Also, by the way, next April, WV is planning to spend a month focusing on Antarctica (see Wikivoyage:Collaboration of the month), so hopefully that will give us a good opportunity to work on the area and get everything just right --Comment by Selfie City (talk | contributions) 13:02, 27 December 2018 (UTC)
