Welcome
editHello Mmorell! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page.
If you are a Wikipedian, then you may notice some differences in policies and the style of our articles. These include:
- NPOV → be fair (not quite the same thing!)
- be bold → plunge forward
- Village pump → travellers' pub
- External links → We do not use a separate external links section, but incorporate primary links only into the text itself.
- sandbox → graffiti wall
- stub tagging → article status
It may also be very useful for you to check out Wikivoyage:Welcome, Wikipedians. If you need help, take a look at Wikivoyage:Help, or else post a message in the Wikivoyage:Travellers' pub, as a reply below or on my talk page. Thanks for contributing! Ibaman (talk) 16:34, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
Listing templates
editThanks for using listing templates, but please don't delete unused fields from them. For "Eat" templates, just click the knife-and-spoon icon 5 icons to the right of the word "Listings" above your edit screen when you're editing a page. Leave the empty fields empty; some of them might be added to later. Ikan Kekek (talk) 04:25, 5 August 2023 (UTC)
- sorry but i'm not aware of doing such thing. Perhaps i do it by mistake. Can you tell me where have you noticed such behavior? Mmorell (talk) 10:31, 5 August 2023 (UTC)
- I've been reviewing the page and I will need some help on how to change that. I'm really new and i don't even fully understand what i've done wrong. I went to Mataro page where you made the changes, and i'm not even been able to find deleted fields. I click on eat items and a form opens with all the fields. Some of them empty. - I'm sure it's a mistake. It's not the biggest deal, just something to keep in mind. Here's an example of where you deleted unused fields. I understand why in that case, but the complete "Do" template looks like this:
* {{do | name= | alt= | url= | email= | address= | lat= | long= | directions= | phone= | tollfree= | hours= | price= | wikidata= | lastedit=2023-08-05 | content= }}
- It's best to just leave irrelevant fields blank. Ikan Kekek (talk) 15:56, 5 August 2023 (UTC)
- Ok. After looking around, it looks like you used the source view when editing. I used the Visual view. The source view is like code and I didn’t use it to avoid messing things around. But it seems that I did anyway. If visual editing is not the way I’ll probably stop editing. Too complex. I’ll try a little more. Mmorell (talk) 18:36, 5 August 2023 (UTC)
- Don't stop editing. If it's too much trouble to use all the fields, just leave that for someone else to take care of. The most important thing is to provide information. Ikan Kekek (talk) 00:08, 6 August 2023 (UTC)
