Hello, Pugliesig! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here.--ϒpsilon (talk) 18:38, 11 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

External links format edit

Hello, Pugliesig, and thank you for adding information to the Alcamo article! However, we need to have a conversation about the form in which you're adding it.

I see that you turned front-linked external links into footnote-style external links. That is incorrect. This site used to use footnote-style links a couple of years ago, but that style was deprecated in favor of front-linking. See Wikivoyage:External links. There are also things you're doing incorrectly in those listings that are in listing templates (which should really be all of them). Please look through Wikivoyage:Listings. The "content" tab of a hotel listing should have only a description of the rooms, the building, the amenities and such. The address should be only in the "address" tab; location information other than the street address only at the "direction" tab; the telephone number, only in the "phone" tab; the email address only at "email"; the URL only at "url".

Also, do not change standard, site-wide subtitles like "Drink" to terms you want like "Bars". See Wikivoyage:Small city article template if you'd like a reference for the standard sections of all small city articles.

If other users correct your format and you then revert it to incorrect format or add redundant information in "content" that doesn't belong there, that will greatly frustrate them. Your role as the person who's adding content is the most important one, but things work best on wikis when different people work well as a team. So please do your best to use correct format in the first place, but more importantly, when others help out by editing your work, please make things easy for them by not reintroducing mistakes.

If you have any questions, please ask them below, and thanks again for adding the content!

All the best,

Calatafimi Segesta edit

Thanks for adding an article about Calatafimi Segesta. Note however that content cannot be copied directly from Wikipedia without attribution, and that Wikivoyage has templates to use for new articles - just click the "City" link from the create article screen, or see Wikivoyage:How to start a new page for details. If you have questions you can ask on this talk page or in the Pub. -- Ryan • (talk) • 22:26, 12 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Image galleries edit

Hello, and thanks for adding more content!

You'll want to read Wikivoyage:Image policy and look at the site policy on image galleries, which is fairly restrictive. They are usually avoided here, except in particular circumstances. Ikan Kekek (talk) 21:21, 16 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

This policy hasn't changed since 2016. Please observe it. Ikan Kekek (talk) 02:06, 8 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Teena edit

Re this edit: What is a "teena"? Is that a typographical error? Ikan Kekek (talk) 20:09, 5 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Touting edit

Hi, Pugliesig, and thanks as always for adding so much content to this site!

But please avoid copying touty descriptions into articles, such as this one. From their website, it looks like their name is actually That'Sicilia, but that aside, this kind of phrase needs to be avoided: "At Gustibus you will find a selection of the best..." Instead, without reusing their name, simply mention what they sell and don't use superlatives ("high quality" is OK if it's true, but "best" — or, worse, "ideal" — should be avoided). Touty descriptions are also an issue in Scopello#Sleep. Please have a look at Wikivoyage:Words to avoid as well as don't tout, and please edit out the problems.

All the best,

Ikan Kekek (talk) 21:30, 8 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Now, you're edit warring. Why? Please don't do that. Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:45, 9 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
This could use some more copy editing, but please look at how I detouted a listing. Please note that businesses can't be listed in more than one place; a wine bar has to be listed in either "Drink" or "Eat", not both. All of this is clearly laid out at Wikivoyage:Don't tout. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:52, 9 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Please don't use refs edit

We don't use refs on this site: See Wikivoyage:External links and Wikivoyage:Welcome, Wikipedians. I don't remember your using them before, so I'm surprised to see you suddenly using them. I've reverted your latest edits to the Alcamo guide. Please re-add them without any refs. In addition, galleries aren't normally used on Wikivoyage, and shouldn't be used for the purpose of showing numerous attractions whose thumbnails otherwise wouldn't fit into the article. Please re-add those images which fit as separate thumbnails, and do not use refs. Thanks, and if you have any questions, please ask them below.

All the best,

Ikan Kekek (talk) 17:26, 11 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Red links in listings edit

Pugliesig, I don't understand why you made this edit the way you did. Has someone hacked this account? I don't understand. You've used correctly-formatted listing templates for months now, right? So why did you post a bunch of red-linked church names, knowing as I think you know(?) that churches do not get their own articles? I hope you plan to turn all of these into normal listing templates, because it would be a shame for someone to revert the listings, due to the amount of work that it would take to delete all those red links. I'm really sorry if I seem like I'm being really hard on you. You've done a lot of excellent work adding content to this site! But lately, some of your edits have surprised me. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:54, 12 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Ok,thank you. —The preceding comment was added by Pugliesig (talkcontribs)
You're welcome. Sorry to be hard on you. Everyone should be grateful to you for all the good work you've been doing so diligently, and nothing I've posted on this page should detract from that. Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:59, 12 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thank you

Deleting listings edit

Hello, and thanks for all your steady work! One small request: When you delete a listing, please note why in your editing summary (probably because it closed).

All the best,

Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:26, 27 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Ok, thanks. As regards Principessa(hotel) and babylon (eat) they closed. For the others (vets) I thought one(complete with services given) was enough!Pugliesig (talk) 08:03, 27 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

That's fine. I was sure you had good reasons, but just briefly note them in your editing summary next time. Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:29, 27 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Images of businesses edit

Hi, Pugliesig. I've removed all 3 pictures of places to eat from the Alcamo guide, due to the guidelines at Wikivoyage:Listings#Images. Please have a look at that link. Thanks. Ikan Kekek (talk) 02:31, 20 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Links to Wikipedia edit

Hi again, Pugliesig. I guess this never came up for you before, but we don't use inline links to Wikipedia on this site. Have a look at Wikivoyage:Links to Wikipedia. Thanks. Ikan Kekek (talk) 18:58, 15 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Ok. Thanks. I won't do that again.--Pugliesig (talk) 21:34, 15 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
Good, and no big deal ("no sweat", as my generation of New Yorkers says). Ikan Kekek (talk) 21:40, 15 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
