Hello The Banner! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page.
If you are a Wikipedian then you may notice some differences in policies and the style of our articles. These include:
- NPOV → be fair (not quite the same thing!)
- be bold → plunge forward
- Village pump → travellers' pub
- External links → We do not use a separate external links section, but incorporate primary links only into the text itself.
- sandbox → graffiti wall
- stub tagging → Article status
It may also be very useful for you to check out Wikivoyage:Welcome, Wikipedians. If you need help, take a look at Wikivoyage:Help, or else post a message in the travellers' pub or on my talk page. Thanks for contributing!
Thank you for your corrections to articles about Ireland. It would be great if you could add accurate information in addition to removing inaccurate information.
Also, a word of advice: you'll get more done here if you're diplomatic/polite about it. Well-meaning edits, even if inaccurate, are not the same as vandalism. I encourage you to add useful information about destinations you're familiar with, and let me know if you have any questions. —Granger (talk · contribs) 20:34, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
- To be true, I now know again why I do not edit Wikivoyage. What I found yesterday was so bad, that it was an utter disgrace. With edits like that, Wikivoyage is unreliable and doomed. The Banner (talk) 10:17, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
- Everyone's happy for inaccuracies to be corrected; it's just unnecessary to insult editors for making mistakes. All you're being asked to do is avoid being unnecessarily antagonistic in the wordings of your edit summaries. Saying that "Wikivoyage is doomed" is also not very friendly. So to be clear, I appreciate any corrections you have made or will make, and I hope that being asked to use a more collegial phrasing is not going to cause you to go off in a huff. However, if it's more important to you to be angry than to continue to improve the guide, that's your choice. Ikan Kekek (talk) 11:12, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
- I just walk away, shaking my head. The Banner (talk) 11:27, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
- Happy trails! If you change your mind later, we'll still be here. Ikan Kekek (talk) 11:32, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
