Hello, Tmv! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. New users are also welcome to post any questions or concerns to the arrivals lounge. If you want some practice editing, please do so on our graffiti wall. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here. If you want to contribute with information about the place where you live, see Wikivoyage:Welcome, locals.
Could you contribute to Go? Pashley (talk) 01:37, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Pashley Hello. Thank you for your message. I would be delighted to help you. --Tmv (talk) 02:21, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks, but you are adding links to Wikipedia which, in general, are not used here. See Wikivoyage:Links_to_Wikipedia#Inline_links.
- Also, how much detail is revelevant in a travel guide? The opening paragraph has "The game originated in China at least 2,500 years ago"; is that all we need or is adding the History section worthwhile? I'd say yes to the section, but I'd cut out the sentence about the first Honinbo; both of those opinions are debatable. Pashley (talk) 09:37, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Pashley The link to Wikipedia will be cut by me. Thanks for your advice.
- About Honinbo, it is important in Japan. However, this site is in English. I realised that the information about Honinbo was not important for English speakers. So I am going to cut it. I appreciate your contact during your busy time.--Tmv (talk) 10:07, 31 January 2021 (UTC)

- The key consideration is not language but whether it is useful for travellers. If there are places to visit, perhaps a Honinbo dojo, then Honinbo, or even all four of the great houses, might be mentioned. Or if he is so important that he must be mentioned as Jigoro Kano or Musashi might be in a martial arts article, then keep him (I'd say not).
- Can you visit places where famous games were played? Perhaps castle games, ear reddening or atomic bomb? Pashley (talk) 10:29, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Pashley Honinbō Sansa is the ancestor of the Honinbō family, famous for Go. He has set many records in Go. But unfortunately, there are few places associated with him. If I were to include it, it would only be his historic site in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City. I do'nt know much about the historic site. I'll look into it and write the page about it. --Tmv (talk) 23:55, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
- I think there is still a tournament called Honinbo. If travellers can go watch that, or other major tournaments, that is worth mentioning. Pashley (talk) 00:52, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Pashley What you're talking about is probably this. Apparently, you can watch the game by downloading the software here. However, since this is online, it probably shouldn't be described in a travel guide. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any information on how to watch the game offline. -- Tmv (talk) 01:29, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
