Welcome
editHello Xisuux! Welcome to Wikivoyage.
To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page.
If you are a Wikipedian, then you may notice some differences in policies and the style of our articles. These include:
- NPOV → be fair (not quite the same thing!)
- be bold → plunge forward
- Village pump → travellers' pub
- External links → We do not use a separate external links section, but incorporate primary links only into the text itself.
- sandbox → graffiti wall
- stub tagging → article status
It may also be very useful for you to check out Wikivoyage:Welcome, Wikipedians. If you need help, take a look at Wikivoyage:Help, or else post a message in the Wikivoyage:Travellers' pub, as a reply below or on my talk page. Thanks for contributing!
Thanks for your work, but why did you create an article for Gonjiam when we already have an article for Gwangju (Gyeonggi), which it is part of? Your comments are requested at Talk:Gonjiam, but it's essentially a foregone conclusion that it will have to be merged and redirected, as Gwangju (Gyeonggi) is not a districted city on Wikivoyage, unilateral districting is not allowed on this site, and the Gwangju (Gyeonggi) article needs to be filled out, anyway. Only when there is an overwhelming amount of content do we divide cities into districts on this site, which is different from Wikipedia in that respect. The basic principle of Wikivoyage is the traveller comes first, so unless there's a problem with presenting all useful information about a city in one place, we keep it there. - And Munseom does not seem to fulfill what is an article. It's merely an attraction - maybe a few attractions, but the content of that article is certainly brief enough at this point to easily fit in the Seogwipo article. Attractions get Wikivoyage:Listings, not their own articles. Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:46, 10 October 2024 (UTC)
- And Gonjiam has been merged and redirected to Gwangju (Gyeonggi). Please help improve that article, and also have a look at its talk page. Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:35, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
Please explain what this article is. It has the same text that was in the Munseom article I just redirected to Seogwipo, but there, you made the statements about Beomseom Island. A web search was not helpful. Did you copy and paste that text from some source, and in any case, do we need to delete this stub article? Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:00, 10 October 2024 (UTC)
- Please post an explanation instead to Wikivoyage:Votes for deletion#Moon Island. Thanks, User:Xisuux. Ikan Kekek (talk) 05:15, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
- Never mind, I figured out the seom means "island" in Korean, ergo Moon Island/Mun island=Munseom. Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:19, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
Errors
edit@Xisuux: thank you for the improvements you have made to the Gwangju (Gyeonggi) article. Here are some ways you can make it better:
- We know that the places listed are in Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi-do, because the article is called "Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi-do". In English Wikivoyage, it is incorrect to include the city name in addresses in listings, unless the listing is in a different city (i.e., not in Bucheon).
- In South Korea articles, we always use the 24-hour clock (09:00-18:00), not the 12-hour clock (9AM-5PM). See the box at the top of Talk:South Korea.
- We always include the country code in front of phone numbers, i.e., +82
Please make these changes. Thank you. Ground Zero (talk) 12:26, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Xisuux, Hanyangprofessor2: I have corrected the errors you made in the Gwangju (Gyeonggi) that you did not correct despite my request on the article talk page. If you make more errors, I will just remove your edits. Ground Zero (talk) 04:47, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- I have reverted one of your edits because you keep making the same mistake, and I won't correct it again. As your professor writes on their talk page:
- @Xisuux, Hanyangprofessor2: Common error to avoid: you should add an address (street, building number, etc.) to your listing BUT do not repeat the city name. For example, if your listing is in Ansan, the address does not need to contain the city name. Ground Zero (talk) 15:58, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Ground Zero Correct. Dear student, please make sure that your new edits will not repeat the errors mentioned here. Edits with errors will not count for your grade and may result in suspension of editing privileges on wiki projects. Hanyangprofessor2 (talk) 06:15, 23 December 2024 (UTC)
