different of the sign Interstate US and Expressway South Korea

Why do they shape different types of signs in Interstates in the US and Expressway in South Korea?

That's not a practical travel question, and why should they be the same? It similarly wouldn't make sense to ask why food, laws and languages differ between countries. For road signs there have been quite some efforts to standardise them, but there is a trade-off between keeping the familiar national signs and changing to some international standard – of which there are at least two (the European and the U.S. one). I have understood that they haven't been able to agree on a single standard even in the U.S. itself. –LPfi (talk) 20:34, 15 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I believe there was some sort of agreement that many countries signed in order to standardise road signs, but a lot of countries didn't sign them – iirc, that includes Australia, Canada, China or the US. I think NZ also didn't sign the agreement but I noticed that their signs are much more easily understood (especially for non-English speakers). --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 23:00, 15 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, the Vienna Convention on Road Signs and Signals. It was based on a European tradition, and the U.S. thought their system was superior (at least for domestic use in a more or less monolingual country). Many countries that aren't signatories have still tried to follow the convention where practical. Many countries have, in a similar way, adopted much of the U.S. system. E.g. South America mostly uses compromises between the two. Central America and southern Africa have their own standards, the former mostly based on the U.S. system. –LPfi (talk) 11:23, 16 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

First read Germany#Do and skim through the Do sections of the cities and other destinations linked from Germany. If you want more specific advice, you need to tell something about your interests or schedule. –LPfi (talk) 15:00, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
