Dont know tag

edit

I think the first line (*Dont know|Don't know) should be removed from the list because there are some images [1] [2] tagged {{Dont know}} just then they were uploaded. It does not comply with the policy and the tag should be used by other users when they find images without copyright information on image page.

I followed advice on shared: and removed the tag from the list on there. -- (WT-en) Tatata 00:39, 8 August 2007 (EDT)

Agreed, I will try to do this at a weird hour tonight, so that any service interruption has minimal impact. --(WT-en) Peter Talk 00:45, 8 August 2007 (EDT)

Free files or non-free files

edit

As I said on MediaWiki_talk:Uploadtext#Non-free files should also have a non-free license tag I think that we should also add a non-free license tag to all non-free files.

I therefore suggest to change the licenses to these:

  • Non-free files (photos of copyrighted statues etc.):
  • Creative Commons license:
    • Photo of art|cc-by-sa-3.0|Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0
    • Photo of art|cc-by-3.0|Attribution 3.0
  • Flickr image licenses:
    • Photo of art|cc-by-sa-2.0|Attribution-ShareAlike 2.0
    • Photo of art|cc-by-2.0|Attribution 2.0
  • Free files (should be uploaded to Commons):
  • Creative Commons license:
    • cc-by-sa-3.0|Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0
    • cc-by-3.0|Attribution 3.0
  • Flickr image licenses:
    • cc-by-sa-2.0|Attribution-ShareAlike 2.0
    • cc-by-2.0|Attribution 2.0

Or something like that. --MGA73 (talk) 19:19, 13 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Upload files, Upload Wizard?

edit

Hello! Sorry for writing in English. It was noted that on this wiki there is little community activity around uploads: less than 50 "Delete" actions in "File" last year.

I guess this wiki doesn't have the interest or energies to maintain complex templates and metadata, especially for EDP files. I propose to

so that no new work is needed on this wiki and all users can have a functioning, easy upload interface in their own language. All registered users can upload on Commons.

All this will be done around 2014-09-30.

  1. If you disagree with the proposal, just remove this wiki from the list.
  2. To make the UploadWizard even better, please tell your experience and ideas on commons:Commons:Upload Wizard feedback.
  3. In all cases, existing files will not be affected, but everyone is welcome to join m:File metadata cleanup drive. The goal is to give better credit to the authors who provided us their works.

I would suggest removing this wiki from the list, since there are times when images need to be uploaded locally because of Freedom of Panorama issues, and there's no good reason only admins should have the power to do this. Can I have some ayes and nays? Ikan Kekek (talk) 19:29, 18 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Agreed with Ikan. It's not been terribly often that we need to upload images locally, but when that does happen, it should be doable with a minimum of hoops to jump through. -- AndreCarrotflower (talk) 19:35, 18 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Yes, of course, we should keep the possibility of local uploads. Images of non-free buildings, sculptures and, occasionally, artwork are integral to travel guides. We should be able to upload them without any restrictions beyond the community-agreed EDP. --Alexander (talk) 19:42, 18 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
It seems obvious that this is a broad small-wiki initiative that doesn't really apply to us. We /do/ direct users to Commons for general uploads and are concious about our local uploads and why we have that option. There seems to be no real problem to solve at this moment, and if anyone thinks otherwise we can always have a normal discussion about it here. No need for an intervention so off the list we should go. JuliasTravels (talk) 20:14, 18 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
It looks like enwikivoyage was already removed from the list, but several other language versions are still on the list. Do you suppose they all know about this? Anyone know whether a message was posted to every language version's pub? Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:03, 23 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
