Our policy currently states "External links should point to primary sources. For example: ...The official web sites of cultural and educational organizations offering programs of interest to travelers, such as foreign language instruction or cooking classes."

I have restored the status quo and I would welcome the exposition of a deletion rationale here based on policy for this edit that removed an external link to a program of interest to travellers to NZ. On a quick glance, these NZ driving guides seem to be both accurate and useful. -- Alice 21:18, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

Give way to the right

edit

Any reason this section needs to be kept? Texugo (talk) 13:27, 9 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Not that I can see. I have removed it now. Nurg (talk) 19:28, 9 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Mile conversions

edit

I dimly recall there having been tl:km Templates and the likes. They appear to have been removed. Should some of them judiciously be reinserted at strategic locations? Hobbitschuster (talk) 17:11, 6 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

I think we can do a bit better for a banner here. As NZ is mostly known for its mountain scenery, I think we should try and use a banner that has some mountain scenery. Unfortunately, there were few that could perfectly fit our 7:1 ratio, but here's what I've cropped. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta.wikimedia) 11:50, 2 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

I eventually found good use for banner 2 on Milford Road. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 22:27, 17 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Driving (i.e. speed camera) apps

edit

What apps do NZ drivers use to warn each other about speed cameras? It's certainly not TomTom's free app - I think that pinged once for a rare fixed speed camera while there, although I passed plenty of temporary speed checks. Lovingboth (talk) 23:10, 13 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Maybe Waze? It's been a while since I've been to NZ, though. SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 04:47, 14 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Looking, there is a small number of reports on Waze about things like road closures, but they are often be months old (yes, all the damage from the recent cyclone hasn't been fixed, but..) and I can't spot any speed camera ones. So it clearly has some NZ users, but it doesn't look like very many. Lovingboth (talk) 10:39, 14 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
