Confusing instruction

I have not been to Gibraltar therefore I may be missing some important context. However I have read the following text a few times and have no ideas what it means:

"After crossing customs, you may be asked to cross the airfield, being absolutely exposed to planes. DO NOT behave differently in this area. Sometimes, if you are on a tour you can stay on the vehicle and citizens using cars can cross by car."

Bias?

Is it just me, or is the text throughout this article written by someone who is very defensive of Gibraltar's status as a British Overseas Territory? Should we make it somewhat more neutral?

I'm not suggesting to take sides on a territory dispute. Just recognize existing British sovereignty but not over emphasize it at every opportunity. --Andrewssi2 (talk) 06:35, 21 November 2013 (UTC)

Done. I think the edits make it sound more like a travel destination and less like a rabid British Daily Mail editorial. I feel this article is actually missing a lot of legitimate travel information that would be of interest to visitors. Andrewssi2 (talk) 13:10, 21 November 2013 (UTC)

Alternative banner for this article?

Suggested new alternative banner

I created a new alternative banner for this article (I initially created it first and foremost so that it would be used at the top of the parallel article in the Hebrew edition of Wikivoyage, yet I later decided to also suggest that the English Wikivoyage community would consider using it here as well). I guess Gibraltar is known primarily for three things: The "rock", its primates and being (at least historically) an important port for the British. Both banners show two of these three aspects but not all of them. We have to ask ourselves, whether we value the rock or the primates as more important.... I very much prefer the second over the first. The photo quality is better and the shot with the rock in the foreground is striking and epic. The one with the macaque is cropped fairly poorly and doesn't work well with the dimensions. Without the rock he's standing on, it just looks like the macaque has been photoshopped in front of the port. Not to mention that the photo is hazy and has smoke rising on the right. I don't buy the idea that when an interesting banner has some photographic flaws it must be replaced by a blander banner without those flaws. Better to suggest how to improve the original. Andrewssi2 (talk) 22:59, 12 August 2015 (UTC)

Seems like we're in the minority, and I'll accept the consensus to keep the status quo. But I still really prefer the new one. I don't accept that the new banner is blander; I find the first one quite bland, being so hazy and dull! But I won't argue the point. There is already a good photo of a cheeky-looking macaque further down in the article. If the current banner remains, then that photo should be removed and replaced with one of the rock as that isn't shown at all. James A ▪ talk 14:15, 13 September 2015 (UTC)

Miles or Kilometres?
