Redundancy

Taman Negara means "National Park." How about if we retitle this article "Taman Negara (National Park)"? (WT-en) Ikan Kekek 04:02, 7 February 2011 (EST)

That idea has a certain amount of sense to it, currently the title is a bit like saying Jalan raya highway. To Malaysians it seems it is just the national part. The park was established in Malaysia in 1938/1939 as the King George V National Park and was only renamed to Taman Negara after independence. The Wikipedia article is the same as here Taman Negara National Park. It should probably be changed there as well. If we have consensus here I will then seek to change it there as well so at least they are both the same. For non-malay speakers it is no doubt of little issue however to anyone who understands or normally speaks in a malay based language it could seem a bit odd. I guess it is a bit silly, so yes, let's rename it. In text there might be instances when it makes more sense to use Taman Negara National Park, because a random reader will not know the meaning, but for the article title Taman Negara should be just fine. I agree this article should be renamed to just Taman Negara. I suppose something could be added to the understand section of the article indicating that Taman Negara means National Park in Malay. Winter.daniel92 (talk) 07:00, 8 April 2013 (UTC)

@Ikan Kekek, The dog2: Just wondering, is this park called Taman Negara or National Park when talking in English? Done. This makes me wonder whether we should turn the National Park redirect into a disambiguation page. The issue is that Mt. Field is the only article where we have coverage of a place called "National Park" and all the others are former names, names in a different language or English translations.
