Welcome edit

Hello, 82.3.185.12! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Wikivoyage:Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub.

By the way, have you considered creating an account here? While you can absolutely keep contributing as an anonymous user, it promises a bunch of benefits, and no obligations.

I also think the help pages Wikivoyage:How to start a new page and Wikivoyage: What is an article? will be particularly useful for you.

Please read all the linked pages above and if, after having done so you still have questions, I'll be happy to answer them on my talk page, where I have also replied to your message.

Best wishes, ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 10:08, 19 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

A celebration edit

This is my 100th edit on Wikivoyage! 82.3.185.12 15:11, 23 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Congrats and thanks for your contributions so far! As TT said above, did you know you can create an account here if you like – see Wikivoyage:Why register for details? --Ypsilon (talk) 15:30, 23 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Ypsilon: That would be sock puppetry and I would be blocked for that, so no thanks. 82.3.185.12 20:59, 23 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Ypsilon: I made that mistake on Wikipedia and now I’m blocked for life there. 82.3.185.12 21:03, 23 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
So you also edit under another account here? Which one? Ikan Kekek (talk) 21:33, 23 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Ikan Kekek: no I don’t use another account here. I was asked if I wanted to create an account by Ypsilon (see above) and I said I don’t want to because it would be socking. 82.3.185.12 21:43, 23 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Ikan Kekek: I don’t have another account. 82.3.185.12 22:01, 23 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Ikan Kekek: when did I say I have another account? 82.3.185.12 22:03, 23 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
If you don't have another account at Wikivoyage, how could you be a sockpuppet here by registering? It doesn't make sense. We don't care what your screen name was at any other Wiki, only what you do here, which has been very positive, so I don't understand why you would worry about any negative consequences of registering. Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:14, 23 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Ikan Kekek: Because if I registered then I’d have two accounts so that would be socking. —The preceding comment was added by 82.3.185.12 (talkcontribs)

I don't understand. Do you mean your IP account and whatever your screen name will be? That would be the same for everyone who started as an IP user and then registered. I posted under a few IPs for years before I registered. Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:25, 23 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
We don't even prohibit socking here. We only ban socks if they're used to evade an existing block. Ikan Kekek (talk) 22:26, 23 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
Yes, thats what I mean, I didnt know that you didnt enforce socking here. By the way, I passed 150 edits 6 hours after I passed 100 edits. 82.3.185.12 08:31, 24 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
Congrats, but no need to rush. Quality is more important than quantity, though from what I've seen, you've provided both so far. :-) Ikan Kekek (talk) 11:41, 24 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Ikan Kekek: Thank you and have a merry Christmas. 82.3.185.12 18:11, 24 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Same to you. And stay safe and healthy! Ikan Kekek (talk) 19:57, 24 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Welcoming new users edit

It's great that you're doing that, but telling someone to "Remember to check out our policies and guidelines" without providing them with any links isn't as helpful as it could be. If you want to welcome new users, the simplest way is to use the following templates: {{subst:welcome}}, {{subst:welcomeanon}} or {{subst:wikipedian}}, depending on whether they're (1) registered users, (2) IP users or (3) clearly Wikipedians. All these templates produce text that includes useful links for new users. You'd probably have more credibility in welcoming new users if you registered an account, though. :-)

Best,

Ikan Kekek (talk) 11:47, 28 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hampshire edit

Hi there. Regarding this, because Hampshire hasn't been subdivided into regions, all articles breadcrumbed under the county have to be listed.--ThunderingTyphoons! (talk) 14:21, 28 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

@ThunderingTyphoons!: Look at the very top conversation on this talk page. 82.3.185.12 13:58, 1 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
