Hello, Alistair1978! Welcome to Wikivoyage.

To help get you started contributing, we've created a tips for new contributors page, full of helpful links about policies and guidelines and style, as well as some important information on copyleft and basic stuff like how to edit a page. If you need help, check out Help, or post a message in the travellers' pub. If you are familiar with Wikipedia, take a look over some of the differences here. Hi. You're doing a global search and replace of "utilize" in favor of its more informal synonym, "use"? Don't you have better things to do? Ikan Kekek (talk) 23:10, 11 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

1980's vs. 1980s

edit

You've been doing a good job of changing 1980's to 1980s. However, I don't think "typo" is the best edit summary to use; I know what you're doing but the edit summary might mislead some editors. --Comment by Selfie City (talk about my contributions) 03:59, 14 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Happy to receive your suggestion for a better tag... Alistair1978 (talk) 11:16, 14 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
I agree. Good work but "typo" is incorrect edit summary when deleting an apostrophe that someone has typed deliberately through a misunderstanding about correct punctuation, rather than by pressing the apostrophe key accidentally. I suspect you would prefer short suggestions for a better edit summary - I think "apos" would be ok. If the edit includes other spelling corrections, then "sp" alone could cover the apostrophe deletion as well. Nurg (talk) 08:11, 19 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
I don't think it's wrong; it's just not Wikivoyage style. Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:36, 19 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
I'd tag it "grammar" or "punctuation". Pashley (talk) 16:30, 8 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
What about [[Mos]] for the edit summary, as in, "Manual of style", or something of that nature? --Comment by Selfie City (talk about my contributions) 22:54, 12 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your continued efforts fixing this frequently made linguistic mistake on WV! 51.9.171.34 18:23, 6 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
