Cliff Dwellers edit

I join in welcoming you here! However, I'm a bit concerned about how many places you're listing Cliff Dwellers. Per this site's don't tout policy, they should be listed only once, in one section. So please list them only in the article for the nearest place, and only once. One other detail: We don't use postal abbreviations or expect non-U.S. readers to know them, so when the name of the state is needed, please spell it out.

Let me know if you have any questions.

All the best,

Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:32, 5 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

"Nearest place, and only once" and watch the postal abbreviations - gotchya, will correct and will do better.
Follow up question: this place is both restaurant and hotel, so regarding listing "only once", is it still okay to list under both Eat and Sleep sections (twice in total)? This is on the Vermilion Cliffs National Monument page; I also listed this place on the page for the city of Page, Arizona, I will delete in favor of the first page.
Thanks for reaching out with specifics. BrianM0000 (talk) 15:36, 6 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
The default is to list once and describe both the lodge and restaurant in the same listing, but there are exceptions. The basic test is, if more than half the diners at the restaurant are neither guests at the lodge nor people visiting guests at the lodge, it should be listed separately. Please describe the lodge and the restaurant; right now, all you have in "content" is directions. What kind of cuisine is served? Is the lodge an old building? How big are the rooms? Etc. "See" listings in Arizona edit

Hi again, BrianM0000, and thanks for your work on the Arizona article, but please have a look at Wikivoyage:Region article template, Wikivoyage:One-liner listings and the Talk:Arizona#Listings in "See" thread I just started. We need to avoid overwhelming the reader with loads of attractions in "See" and avoid using geocoordinates, so as not to risk making the map indecipherable on the page. Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:28, 9 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Ok, thank you for the detailed feedback so I can improve. Much appreciated. I'll work on this (tomorrow, getting late). From first look-see, detail might best go into the region article, with a summary or highlight text (not list) in the parent state article. And/or an iterary to catch several of the highlights. BrianM0000 (talk) 07:00, 9 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
I restored the previous See section text before I went crazy on (still has listings in it, tho),; will work on a rev2 tomorrow or the next day. Thanks BrianM0000 (talk) 07:16, 9 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thank you! Just to say: the place where the full listings with full details should be is in the bottom-level articles, which are usually city, park or rural area articles, not region articles. Do you know about Wikivoyage:Rural area article template, by the way? That can be useful for articles about areas that have no single town that can support its own article. See Rural Montgomery County as an example of that template in action. Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:28, 9 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Eastern Arizona mapmasks edit

I just had a look at it. The issue comes from using {{mapmask}}s, instead of geojson code. Maybe see Canberra/Weston Creek, Molonglo Valley and Woden or Canberra/Civic are formatted. Ping me if you need any help. --SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 09:58, 13 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

I've taken a stab at it. Does that work out now? (the stroke width might need to be reduced) SHB2000 (talk | contribs | meta) 02:16, 15 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
Sweet, thanks! Definitely what I was aiming for. Sometime's there templates for what one wants to do, sometimes it needs to be 'unrolled'.
I'll tinker with the stroke width and such. BrianM0000 (talk) 05:37, 15 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Asking for an opinion on Arid region safety... edit

As you are from a region where there are Arid regions and the fact that you wrote an Article on Death Valley, any chance you could add your eye on this? ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 19:51, 23 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
